The simplest form of MAFIA is played between two teams (Town & Mafia). When the game begins, all players are privately told what their role is by the Moderator (this is the person hosting the game).

**Roles in this game:
Townie- **Basically, the Townies are the forces of good. During the day they try to lynch Mafia but at night don’t do anything. Also, other than themselves, they don’t know of the other Townies in the game. Their goal is to survive and kill the Mafia.
Mafia- The Mafia role is the most critical role in the game. Unlike the Townies, the Mafia knows all their fellow Mafia members. During the day they mingle with everyone trying to hide their identity so Townies do not kill them. At night all the Mafia members gather privately (private messages) and choose a victim to kill from all the other players. Their goal is to survive and kill everyone else in the town.
Informant to the Cop- This person is on the Townies side. This person will be an under cover agent for the police, acting as the MAFIA. He/she will gather all the details which are discussed in the Mafia PMs and than share with the Cop. YES. The Cop and Informant know each others identity!!!
Cop- The Cop is on the Towns (Townies) side. Every night the Cop will tell the moderator (in a PM) which player he/she wishes to investigate and finds whether they are on the Mafia or Town side.
Another role of the cop is to discuss with the Informant about the Mafia and use the information given by Informant to lead the Townies in a positive direction!!!
Doctor- A very powerful ally to the Town. Each night, the Doctor contacts the Moderator (in a PM), choosing one player to protect during the night from a Mafia kill.
**How to play Mafia:
**
- We need NINE people to play
- The Moderator will assign (at random) roles to the nine people playing. So The Townie, The Mafia, The Cop, The Doctor will all be distributed among the nine players.
- We always start with the DAY phase of the game. This is when the townspeople will talk amongst themselves, and try to logically decide which of them is a Mafia, while the Mafia try to blend in.
- Than the Townies VOTE to lynch whomever is most suspicious (to be Mafia). Vote can be changed at anytime before being counted. Need a MAJORITY to lynch a person. (On the first day, need FIVE votes out of nine for Townies to lynch someone).
- Moderators reveals publicly the real identity of the lynched person and it becomes NIGHT time and thread is locked.
- Now the Townies are not allowed to talk, hence, thread will be locked by the Moderator. Now the Mafia will discuss in private (in PM’s) who they want to kill and send the Moderator their choice.
- As soon as Mafia send who they want to kill, it’s DAY time again and the killed person’s real identity will be reveal.
…and the cycle continues until either all Mafia or all Townfolks are dead.
REMEMBER_1: Townies do not know anyone else’s role other then themselves BUT Mafia knows their own role as well as their partners in crime (who the other Mafia’s are).
REMEMBER_2: In point #7 if the Doctor choose to protect a player (who was chosen by Mafia to be killed) THEY WILL LIVE. This means Mafia made a wrong move in the game.
REMEMBER_3: When it says DAY or NIGHT, it’s not literal. DAY is just the time Townies talk and NIGHT is when Mafia talks. So a DAY in this game can last just 1 hour and same with NIGHT.
REMEMBER_4: The cop and Informant (who is acting like a Mafia) know each other, just like all the Mafia members know each other!!!
