I’m planning on getting a Catera soon, but the cheap price scares me. What’s the word on em? We’ve had a sts so i’m familiar with Cadillac…it’s just the Catera i’m questioning.

Dont get it, No resale value. Parts are extremely expensive as they are not made after market hence you are only ought to buy from the dealer.
Consider Lexus IS300 or Lexus GS 300 or 400 or 430. Your BEST bet would be go on ebay. You will be AMAZED by the choices you are going to get there.
To me a person is stupid to buy anywhere but ebay, especially when it comes to cars. There is so and i mean SO MUCH competition there that dealers are selling cars for their cost price. And the bigger dealers are just selling them in volume and are even content with $500 on a car as profit.
Which state you are buying that caddy ?

Salman the cars your talking about are around 20K at the least. The Catera can be had for half that price with the same luxury amenities.
The Catera was made in Germany by Opel (which is also owned by GM). It has the Opel 3.0L 200HP V6. Don't be afraid of the "cheap" price, it's mainly because it's a domestic car. Any American car that is over 5 years old can be had for under 10k anyway. You can't beat that car for the money.
I am sorry bro, but i wouldnt agree with you over there. 98 GS 300 with 80K miles Mint condition for around 16K link
2000 GS300 with 48K miles for around 17K link
And then not to mention no reserve auctions on ebay, where you can get lucky ..EASILY.
I got to admit that i thought i know A LOT about cars but i am amazed on your info about Opel making the catera. I NEVER knew that.
But again I am not saying LEX parts are any cheaper than Caddy, but once I had a Catera to be worked on, the front headlights were busted i searched my a$$ off to get him used headlights through www.car-parts.com but couldnt…
I guess from that one incident i aint a big fan of catera. And honestly you live in new york.. how many of Catera’s you see on the road ?

Yea, the catera is an opel. The catera never caught on with the 3 series or c class so the numbers sold were low, very low. But that doesnt worry me, I'm extremely worried why it's so cheap. The performance and build quality satisifies me and i'm in no need for after market parts.
I'm in Canada and ebay's useless. What do you think about the catera? I think it's great value.
I sold many Catera's during my dealership days last year.
Its a lux car no doubt based on european design and concept. I consider this car as not very durable though.
On the other hand a new CTC on the same price tag shud be a hell of a car to own. shop around you won't be disappointed. :D

I ll go with raindancer :)
I v checked out the car, and its just not that good :)
It dont feel that solid, the feeling u get when driving a merc bmw or audi :)
I wouldnt advice u to buy one, :)
Can you gimme another car in the same price range...offering the same features?
i wouldn't invest in the american luxury car....id recommendt a lexus or audi cuz they hold their value after couple years.
I dont care about resale value..lexus or audi would be outta my budget. Is there anything WRONG with the catera other than your personal preference?
Good Luck ! ;)
^ thanks, i think im gonna go ahead with it and find a catera.
