Just thought to share my experience of cabbies in Sri Lanka…i got the whole foreign treatment…feel free to share your own…
They would always have a line to flatter you…i got told i looked like David Beckham once cos my hair was cornrowed lol…
They always tried to scam me for prices…especially when i would travel alone…one time a two minute journey which is 300 rupees normally went up to 1000 rupees…i refused to pay anything and got away with it due to the fact that i nodded to the security outside my hotel who were hired who told him to scram…
Another incident was me and my friend wanting to go to a bar…we were asked if we wanted to see girls…we said naturally yeah afterwhich we were taken to what initially seemed like a club…once we got in we realised that we werent as popular as we thought we were but just that we were in a whorehouse…
Another time we were taken to a lineup of girls lol…they didnt seem to understand that we wanted to see girls we didnt want to pay for…
One cabbie was the local weed dealer and offered to get harder stuff lol…that guy then tried to become our regular cabbie which we refused cos if we agreed he would have got a little too cozy with his pricing…
Sri Lanka is the only non European place iv visited since adulthood…just wondering whether every cabbie is a drug dealing pimp or was this just our luck?..
