CAA = Canadian Automobile Association
AAA = American Automobile Association
Suppose someone residing in Canada has CAA membership; do they have to do anything separate to apply for AAA membership? i was under the impression that CAA and AAA are both affiliates; membership of one automatically entitles you to benefits of the other. But i just looked at the CAA website and it doesn’t seem that way Sorry if i’m asking this in a confusing manner but - do CAA perks such as towing benefits/roadside assistance and all the extras apply equally towards any CAA member driving in the States?
Yeah i read about that in the other thread. That’s why i think, if possible, it’s a good idea to have a membership with them… because one never knows when you’ll need their help.
It also helps to have that peace of mind that no matter where one is stranded, at least someone will come with a tow truck to help you out
DM, you know what i heard... not certain how accurate this is - maybe someone else can shed some light on this. You get 5 friend 'courtesy calls' from CAA; for example, if you have CAA membership but a friend of your's (who does not) while driving in another part of the city gets stranded for whatever reason due to his/her car, then you can call CAA and they will provide complimentary assistance to your friend - even if s/he isn't a CAA member. Since CAA membership lasts for one year, you can make five courtesy calls within the space of one year.
That's not too bad, i think...because not everyone can afford that membership and it helps to be able to know you can make 5 courtesy calls in a year incase a friend gets stuck somewhere (which is very likely during Canadian winters).
