I’m using this software for file/data replication on 2 different servers. I’m able to use it on servers which are on the same domain & network, but I’m unable to see servers on other networks. According to the software description it is capable of replicating to a standby server at remote locations. But when I setup a protection task, the only servers which appear in the list are those on the same domain or those with trust relationship.
If anyone knows how to be able to select server on separate networks please let me know. Surprisingly, their online tech support is next to nothing and the documentation I downloaded doesn’t say anything on how to do this. They only explain how to do it on servers in same domain and network.
You need a common username and password on both machines for these tasks to work. If the 2 machines are on different networks with no trust then it will be a security breach anyhow. Plus for auto-failover you also have to setup a floating network which is a nightmare onto itself. Good luck with the install.
I'm not going to do autofailover. I only want to have data in synch on both servers. Is there a way to create a trust between 2 servers on different networks? Both servers have same admin user id and password.
I already did the install. Now please help me configure :~)
If the 2 admins are on 2 networks then its not the same ID, i.e. network1\admin, and network2\admin. If its just files/folders you want in both places why don't you just use robocopy or Idem or something similar, instead of a $1500 package.
I need a solution that does server replication in real time automatically accross networks. Idem & Robocopy can't do that.
I'm gonna call CA's tech support to see what they say. I don't like calling tech supports unless I have to cause usually they are quite ignorant and it gets frustrating.
I think Legato makes something similar to this as well. I might try their evaluation copy as well.
Do you know how to change location/path for saving replicated data onto secondary server? I changed the Disk/Queu location on 2ndory, but it still replicates to the path where CA is installed.
