C-130 aircrafts replace Fokker in NAs Saturday, July 15, 2006
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) launched a fleet of C-130 aircrafts on Friday to replace the PIA Fokker flights in the northern areas of the country. The new airplanes will fly from Islamabad to Gilgit and from Peshawar to Chitral. The decision has been made to facilitate the passengers after the government’s decision to ground Fokker airplanes following the Monday plane crash in Multan. staff report
C-130s are much more expensive to operate than Fokkers.
I wonder how safe/effective it would be to use gliders as passenger planes. After all, if during World War 2, Germany, Britain, and the USA were all able to use gliders as airborne troop transports, one would imagine that they could be used as economical passenger planes too.
