After 22 years Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) would elect its new Amir other than Qazi Hussain Ahmed as JI Majlis-e-Shoora has nominated JI NWFP Amir Siraj-ul-Haq, JI Naib Amir Liquate Bloch and Syed Munawar Hassan as candidates for the elections to be held in March.

Qazi has been leading JI for the last 22 years but he refused to take part in the elections to be held for the new Amir due to his poor health.

The ballot papers would be delivered to JI members across the country to elect the new Amir through secret ballot..

^^^ so no one would know who voted for who. BTW, I hope all parties follow JIs example elect new leaders every few years.

Every few years? They should change every 4 years like the election system. Frankly hope the MMA burns in hell.

I would like SirajulHaq to be the next Amir. he is a man of integrity. he would prove better than Qazi.

MMA is history, has been for a while now, they disbanded before the elections. There is now the JI and the JUI back again, with JI boycotting elections and being the street popular party, whereas JUI with Fazlur having made undercover deals with the dictator (as exposed by Ansar Abbasi) is running a similar course to the PPP.

Farewell Qazi. He showed good fighting spirit everytime.
