i still dont belive they came to stop the music and their real goal is to offer safe heaven for al-quida and get the fbi and pak army out of there.

While your statements do hold merit, I think that Sarhad (NWFP) and to lesser extent Baluchistan are the most conservative areas in Pakistan. So, the MMA decisions will not bring the protestors out in the street..This is being done through democratic means, and not by force. True enough, voter turnout may be low, but to those in NWFP complaining about the ban: You shouldve voted on election day, but you didn't, so face the decisions of those who did!

kuRiye, thats is what we call "naa sau mann tael howey te na Radha nachay".

So your obligation as a Muslim is only to live in a islamic state and if one does not exist live in the west and enjoy all the kafirly passions while someone else in some God damned place suffers for your ideals.

But don't worry you are the face of majority of new generation of hypocrite west-educated Muslims who enjoy everything "un-islamic" while preach for less fortunate ones the opposite of it.

channmahi....i dont enjoy every thing "unislamic" i am quite.......a good muslim n try to follow islam as much as i can, here i was reffering to listening to music.well.....atleast i think they are leading the true islamic life,n i DO wish to do the same.........i do try:(

:)

Music is not Haraam. Nowhere in the Quran does it say it is haraam. Music can be haraam or halaal depending on what is being sung. If you are listening to 2 Live Crew then that is Haraam. Its not a black and white issue here. Many scholars do not believe music to be haraam.. some Wahabbi/Salafi scholars believe music to be haraam though but then again its those knobs who think that everything is haraam except for a few things in this world.

If they don't want to listen to music then good luck to them. Why should we make a song and dance about it, if you'll forgive the pun? As far as I'm concerned they can build igloos and dress like eskimoes if they want to, we have more important things to worry about in the rest of the country where things actually get done.

:hehe:

On a serious note, wouldn’t it be nice if things got “done” in that part of the country as well?

PCG, it would be nice, but only if that's what they want. these people are very stubborn when it comes to their old traditions and IMO change needs to be dynamic not forced. If it was that easy, don't you think all those governments before now would have forced policy changes on that area?

Honestly, I think we have more important priorities for the moment anyway.

funguy - sorry for not checking this earlier...not at all, dont worry abt it....:) and i am sorry too if i said anything personal

The MMA was elected into power in the NWFP *with a mandate
to introduce measures such as this. At the end of the day, the people of the NWFP have made it clear that they wish to live without music and videos on public buses.

one thing i m sure of, Ppl in NWFP didnt vote to get rid of music or something like that, they voted against Americans. And majority were made to vote. My mamoon who lives in pehswar tld me that MMA workers lured poor illiterate villagers by relegiuos blackmailing and things like ' Either vote for Bush or for Quran'. This is what i think is Not a good practice.

But on the other hand, i agree that There are some measures needed to b taken in the whole country, not just NWFP. Not Taliban like islmaic state rules but a pure islmic state rules and regulations are needed. Otherwise part of our community will go out of hand (God Forbid)

Mussarat Shaheen  Mad Scientist, you are right, but these voters are the same people that love to watch those pathetic Pushtu films, and hail Mussarat Shaheen as their sweetheart!

ROTFL!!! :hehe:

Spock, Right on

I’ve heard Mussarat Shaheen having a crush on Maulana Fazl-ul-Rahman. Is it true? Or just a rumor.
