The real show of democracy was to accept the 2016 referendum in which the majority of population voted to leave the EU, and Johnson is only trying to implement the will of the people by blocking the hand of MPs/ aristocrats/ lords/ Big Business, who are trying their best to thwart the process. Leaving the EU was a ludicrous decision, infact stupid, but still a democratic one and everyone should respect this.
Proroguing the parliament for a few weeks to implement the result of a democratic referendum is not about bankrolling the democracy, but the very contrary.
