There is an opinion from some scholars adopted by various halal certification agencies across the world that a stunning process that is momentary and reversible does not invalidate the halalness of the slaughter. For example the Islamic Society of North America certifies stunned animal meat as zabihah halal, subject to the slaughterhouse proving through testimony from a vet that their method is only a temporary stun.
