I was just wondering how many of you actually buy make up or perfumes from Amazon or eBay, and how would you rate your experience? I personally have no experience with using eBay but I do frequently use Amazon for books and stuff. So bit unsure about authenticity of the make up, would love if you guys can clear this out for me.
And from whatever little I’ve seen, I didn’t see any significant difference between retail prices of high end brand products, like Dior, Chanel, YSL etc and those of Amazon or eBay. Is it supposed to be like that?
hey! I would say don't waste your money on ebay specially when it comes to makeup. I recently ordered lancome lipstick from ebay as they were selling it quite cheap compare to its original price. I was very excited that I got lipstick at good price. But when i got that lipstick, I found it was just a lip balm,it has peach coloured head but it doesn't give any colour when u apply on lips. so its just waste of money.
I usually just buy from powersellers (I prefer 99% if not 100% with at least a couple of hundred positive feedbacks) tho so I can be sure an item isn’t a fake.. I don’t believe you can sell fake cosmetics to hundreds of ppl without at least one of them realising as most of us can tell the difference pretty easily between a high-end brand we have already purchased in the past and a cheap fake (apart from the product itself often being different in terms of consistency, colour or longevity sometimes the packaging is off eg. the paper box looks cheap or there are spelling mistakes or something.. usually there is more than one clue and it’s quite obvious)..
Apart from the obvious plus point of the price of course you can often also find products that have been discontinued or sold out (for a good six months after Guerlain discontinued their ‘Twin Set’ compact foundations I would buy them online until I found a good replacement product)..
I've brought loads of makeup items from eBay and actually found some great bargains!
Thankfully up until now, I have never had a problem with any product I have ordered..
If I like a product, I make sure that the feedback they have received is 98%+ positive...to minimize the chances of receiving fake makeup..
However this doesn't always guarantee that your product will be genuine...you just have to be cautious and look around :)
But there is definitely some good stuff on there!
