Basically most lehngas in India are sold with the blouse unstitched when it asks for additional cost for stitching it means do you wish for the choli to come stitched - otherwise you can get it done from your own tailor.
You should first check if they can do the choli in a longer style and secondly insist on seeing photos of the actual outfit they will send you prior to handing over your cash - quite often the difference between what you would have seen in the movie and what you will actually get may be quite stark... it will just be their interpretation of that outfit according to that particular budget. On the other hand it may be just right but do check and insist on seeing photos before you buy!
I've been reading up anju modis interviews and the effort that went into deepikas outfits was significant. Months were spent in the making of one outfit and she travelled to interior rural areas and acquired fabric pieces from local villagers, hard to get in markets, that went into these outfits. One lehenga had 50 yards of flair and weighed 30kg. A $390 dress can be inspired from the original design but expecting it to come very very close to it would not be a good idea.
Yep, I'd definitely want to see a pic of the actual outfit, and not the one from the movie. Also check their return policy in case the lehenga is not up to the mark.
I have previously bought two sarees from an indian estore. Sadly, they did not turn to be as pictured. The material used was cheap and stiff for a saree :/ I wouldn't suggest spending such an amount, unless you have purchased with 'fashionkafatka' previously and are satisfied with their quality.
Thanks all for your advice. What site did you buy those saris?^^^ Sorry that happened to you.
The actual lengha is so detailed and has so much material that is used in the skirt part of it that I actually think $390 is way too less so i'm expecting it to be subpar.
Are there any reliable Pakistani sites that you were really impressed with? I am not looking for any wedding outfits, just for desi events.
I don’t see it on that website but thanks anyways.
How much do you all think it would cost to have it made in the old country? I’m visiting in June and I would really like to have a total replica made of it by a reliable tailor and my sis-in-law probably knows a couple good tailors. Any of you have experience getting heavy lenghas made by tailors?
I’m hoping it’s not a whole lot of money with just as much material that seems to be in the original that made it that flowy. I’m totally in love with this outfit. it sucks.
I was just thinking about that ..
Will you be gettin some sort of 'kaam' done on the lehenga?! I recently got a two tired lehenga choli made the fabric costed me around rs.7000 for 7 yards (it was an embroidered fabric - bought as is)...with stitching charges approx. Rs.5000 for the lehenga and 2500pkr for the top. It is a great alternative ..you will probably get a better product and something very close to what you need..
I would love to see your lehenga..I have been wanting one of those ram-leela lehngas myself ..
