Buying jewellery hints/tips/tricks

Salaams,

I’m not sure if there is already a thread on this, couldn’t find it if there is one.

Please can you give me some insider tips, etc on buying shaadi jewellery, in particular gold. I don’t really know what to look out for.

Well that all depends on your budget really. You need to go a jeweller and checkout the stuff he has. If you see a picture of something online it might not be so helpful because it may not look exactly the same in real and might not look good with your particular outfit.
like for example if your outfit has silver kaam then do not wear gold with it.
For me, i don't like the really bulky heavy set that cover all of your neck. I love elegant smaller sets that look so beautiful and delicate on your neck and you can wear them again too.

And go to a trustworthy jeweller. Ask your relatives and friends where they get gold jewellery from. I woudn't recommend goign to a jeweller that hasnt been recommended by someone you know since gold is so expensive these days and you don't wana get ripped off.

just a few tips..

you could just rent the bindya and jhoomar as you prob. never use them again.. i've heard that you pay full price when borrowing and the jeweler keeps 10% after you return it..

another thing you can do is you ask your mother-in-law what jewelry she getting, for instance if she getting you a pair of gold kay kangnas, they you can buy yourself gold kay churyaa..
