Buying Dissertation rather then doing it yourself..

So this topic came up at a gathering, the kids were randomly asked if they would buy their Dissertation instead of doing it themself..

Some of them said no they wouldnt.. Some said, they would, if its available then why not and specially if its nothing wrong that they are doing then why not save the energy and buy one..

Now, I understand that in today’s times we have many shortcuts to achieving a degree. In your opinion, is it wise for kids to start buying their dissertations instead of doing it themselves? What pros and cons should they keep in mind if they do decide to buy it and not do it themselves?

I find it very disturbing when kids don't see anything wrong in buying a dissertation.

Same here Umer.. but the thing is, its there online, legal and being portrayed as a personal decision of a student and some are even advertising it as "save your time and resources " .. for what? I dont understand..

do these people not get caught by the teachers marking them? genuinely this is very unfair to those who go through the effort of researching and doing it themselves .. hai na?

At least thats what they claim .. I havnt gone into the specifics but they do claim that they are well within their legal rights to do this business.

I know some people who do it as a side business (and they are medical doctors)

Proto, are they working towards some form of educational degree? or is it general type of reports that these doctors have to prepare from time to time?

I remember sometime back this candidate I met had worked in a company where they would write up reports for medical professionals .. but they did not contribute to their educational degree , they were more like for seminars and conferences that they have to attend ..

The practice of buying academic papers is not “legal” in any way. Yes, most of the time proving that a student purchased a paper rather than created it individually is nearly impossible, and this is frowned upon by administration unless there was concrete proof… so many students get away with it. It’s an unfortunate reality of our educational system today… even the worst students find a path of least resistance to earn their diplomas and it is in the school's financial interest to permit this to happen. In many ways, the education industrial complex creates an environment where this type of behavior thrives.

That being said, while students might be able to get away with this behavior in undergrad courses, but when it comes to grad studies, it might not be so easy after all… the specificity of the writing tasks, submission of multiple drafts of their work, producing written work in a restricted environment, and an oral defense of their ideas can be used to weed out the incompetent students.

I am actually so relieved to read tht LC .. honestly, the last thing we need is shortcuts in educational standards !

I'd never heard that purchasing a paper at any level was legal. The premise of receiving grades is that the student is graded on their own independent thought and reasoned research conclusions. A bought paper is not independent thought.

I don’t want to sound too indignant, but this trend is also a result of the sense-of-entitlement rampant in the millennial generation. While they may be able to buy their way through school… they’re probably going to have to keep paying for it throughout their life… and not just financially. There’s something to be gained out of the demands and challenges in academia. Experiences like beating your head into a wall because you can't string thoughts together, addressing criticisms of your work, being stuck and rising above your problems, finding the motivation to keep going despite the tribulations and inconveniences… all this builds character, personality and a strong work ethic.

^ TOTALLY AGREE! I think there's something to be said about the deterioration of moral values in society.

When I was younger, you didn't cheat/plagiarize because you were afraid of getting caught, rather you didn't cheat because it was morally wrong and you knew there was no sense of pride or accomplishment associated with handing in someone else's work. There was pride in exemplifying a strong work ethic and being rewarded for that work. You didn't always get an A - but a B or a C due to one's own effort was far better than the A that was a result of cheating.

This is what is absolutely missing in today's generation.. they see it as troublesome work , rather then seeing the real value behind all that work they put in an assignment. I do wonder though, has the internet access done this damage to the generation? that they are able to get access to companies that would sell them this stuff and convince them easily that its not morally wrong ?

Arent the teachers able to tell from the previous academic results of a student that a certain project wasnt prepared by them? how do students get away with it? specially someone who lags behind maybe all through their study course and then suddenly dissertation time, they walk head up in pride with a straight A !!!

they are dissertations,research work and papers that are mandatory for one's post-graduation/promotions.

That is such a disturbing thing Proto, no wonder the quality of education is dropping so badly :no: Honestly this should be made illegal at all levels ..
