Re: Buying a knife

CB, I bought a knife recently. Its great because it is sort of an all in one type! Suitable for cutting vegetables, Bread AND meat. The name is 'Kuhn Rikon Kitchenware' and comes in bright blue, bright green and red and has a 10 year guarantee. It is steel with a plastic coating and is not too big, which is good for my small hands. (i'm terrified of big knives) :(

Btw, I bought mine from T K Maxx.

Diamond, how do you know its a chef’s knife? :konfused: coz when you start looking at knives section it has so much variety and nearly impossible to know which one will be a good option

wow , i love this knife Diamond ... is it hard to sharpen it ? how long does it last without sharpening?

Re: Buying a knife

The knives don’t need sharpening very often. However, when using it to cut/clean meat I usually do it and no sharpening is easy.

I use this for sharpening.

Re: Buying a knife

I use kinves by Sabatier, a large chef knife similar to the one in the pic above, it really does make a difference using good quality professional knives, I use the wheel knife sharpener I thing this rod one is better but I can't get the technique right. Also a wooden chopping board, not plastic or the glass as they damage knives. HTH

Re: Buying a knife

CB, i brought a couple of knives by Henkles, this was after someone on GS raved about them, and tbh they are fantastic, I would def recommend them, they really are the best.

Re: Buying a knife

i recently bought a Cuisinart 15 piece knife set and it has every kind of knife u would possibly need! and the quality is very good :)
