Buying a House - Lombard or Naperville?

Chicago guppies please help!!

We are looking to buy a home in Chicago suburbs this year and are stuck between choosing a luxury condo in Lombard and a townhome in Naperville both less than 10 years old.

Our concern:
Condo is lovely, 35 mins drive from the city/other areas but there are 35 units in the building and I’m concerned if we have kids won’t there be safety issues because we won’t who is living in our neghbor…Another issue is association is run by homeowners, I’m concerned about them being less professional + more politics

Townhome in Naperville is lovely, surrounded by mostly families, in great school district, and we have a preschool in walking distance. Shopping is mins away. Our concern is that my hubby works in downtown Chicago and soon I’ll be working there also so our commute will be about an hour by Metra train.

I wanted to know which home do you guys recommend? Long commute or living in a apartment style setting. Keep in mind we are planning to start a family soon and plan to live in this home for next 10-15 years.

Thanks for help in advance!!

Re: Buying a House - Lombard or Naperville?

What is your budget? and how many bd are u looking for? You know Algonquin has beautiful house at a very good price range. Naperville is bit expensive no? I would rather have a house then a condo, if you are looking into starting a family. Here in palatine too, but Algonquin is the best!
