ummm…can somebody tell me if the pure white butter is available commercially …???
until now i never found it …all i get is yellow butter …!!
so far it was ok …as whenever i use it for cake decoration etc. i add a bit of cocoa powder n change its colour to brown …but now i want the pure snow white look …for fresh cream pineapple cake …!!!
so how can i get this white butter n from where …???
Afia, i asked ammi..and she's saying that with butter its glazed icing not fresh cream icing..and if you are making fresh cream pineapple cake..you should use whipping cream..what we do here is that she gets whipping cream in a tetra pack and then she beats the cream..and she adds the essence of pineapple to it..and if she makes black forest cake..she adds coco powder or sometimes she melts chocolate and add that in with whipping cream to make chocolately icing.
I have never seen white butter here..so i can't help you in that regard. sorry.
you need to buy buy UNSALTED butter, its what they use in cakes and icings and is much paler in colour than normal butter. Should be able to find it pretty easily in any supermarkets...its usually next to the normal butter.
thanx all Qrius
well , i do use whipped cream for fresh cream icing …but when it comes to make flowers etc. it doesn’t go well …actually in pakistan …we do everything with cream (home made) but here its not the same …it takes ages to reach desired consistency …(even chilled cream too )
n then its not that stable as butter is …so i really need white butter
Shahreen hmmm …i always buy unsalted one but pale yellow or rich…its yellow so can’t give snow white look …
hmmm…i think now i should consult confectioners around my place …
my mom suggested few things..she was saying that you can buy unsalted butter..and when start beating that..it will turn white. She also said that you can make your own butter with ghee..just whip it and you'll get butter..and lastly she said..if you use whip cream and icing sugar..the icing sugar should be more than whip cream..you can get the same consistency.
I have seen things in grocery stores..they usually have a baking section that has everything..infact i remember seeing already prepared flowers and kits for them. I remember one time i was on a quick trip to a store called Michaels here..and they had a section on home made kits..ranging from making chocolates at home to cakes and what not..if i go there..i'll see what they do for cake flowers..and i'll report that to you here :)
hmm…i’ll try unsalted butter with hope that it will turn white…lets see
as for ghee…i don’t get it …ghee too is yellow …n whipping it will give white butter…??? may be i’m mistaken in understanding it
hmm…sugar more than cream…that may be the solution …lemme try this one
as for commercially available products …i’m afraid …most often there are some haram ingredients …so i’m too hesitant to buy them …well may be in canada or america you can get halal ones …but here i’ve checked so many things n they have something haram in it …!!
anyway …thanx a lot …i’ll try the third suggestion hopefully in a day or two
hmm....Qrius i tried to add more sugar in cream to make it stiff ...didn't work :(
but well , i tried beating butter with sugar it became lighter but was still yellow ...anyway i just used it ....cake was looking nice ...a bit pale in colour but still fine :)
