Hey this recipe sounds fairly easy to make... but these are chikken tikkas not butter chicken right?
As far as I know, "traditional" butter chicken is nothing more than boneless pieces of tandoori chicken simmered in a butter-tomato sauce. It was invented as a way to use up leftover tandoori chicken...so thats actually probably the most authentic way to make it.
butter chicken (by chef zakir)
heat the oil in the pan.
add 2tb.s ginger garlic paste + chicken in the oil.
saute the chicken.
add 1/2 cup tomato paste or puree.
cook little, than add red chilli powder 1tb.s +1 tb.s zeera powder + 1 t.s garam masala + salt + 2 tb.s butter.
cook for 2-3 minutes.
add 1 cup fresh cream in it.
cook until butter nad cream seperates.
garnish with fresh coriander.
What do you mean by fresh cream?
I don't think we get that sort of thing here. From what I understand there is "heavy whipping cream".
I want to avoid that though, because like the title says, its "heavy", and I don't know about you sisters, but I can't afford to go buy more underwear for a swiftly expanding a*s.
lol
Re: butter chicken recipe needed
I dont wanna use whipped cream because an entree such is chicken was not mean to be sweet in my opinion, what did the rest of you use? Half and half?
Re: butter chicken recipe needed
Whipped cream & whipping cream are 2 different things.
Whipping cream (which the recipe calls for) is unsweetened milk fat or 'heavy cream'...if you beat it with sugar for several minutes it becomes light and fluffy and is called 'whipped cream.'
Re: butter chicken recipe needed
Is this thread about butter chicken or the different international (UK, USA) varieties of cream?? :-)
