But Judge We Do

Re: But Judge We Do

Why do you always forget the differences in the two economies. Comparing maids in the US to maids in Pakistan is like comparing Apples and Oranges. Yeah the unemployment numbers are at an all time high in the US, but they are a lot higher in Pakistan. People will do almost anything to keep a job over in Pakistan and if that means putting up with abuse, so be it.

The only way to fix the country is to fix the economy ( and education), the rest will follow.

Re: But Judge We Do

Why not? They are their kids, can't leave them back at home and bring the maid along for taking care :/

Re: But Judge We Do

Then why feed them before bringing them along? It may be even weird at night because most kids tend to sleep right after they eat.

ab yeh to unhee se poocho :/

Re: But Judge We Do

this doesn't reflect Pakistani society. this is only about a fraction of society. an average Pakistani cant go and dine in at a restaurant, let alone taking the whole family, kids and maids to a restaurant.

having said this, the people who can afford to keep live in maids do take them along most of the places they go. like dining out, shopping, dawats, outings/picnics etc and i don't see any harm in it. rather its a good thing. the maids get a fresh air and some entertainment as well. we have maids in our families who we take along. the maids look after the kids while moms eat and shop in peace. this is not true that they cant sit on the same table. they sit on the same table but yes they eat after any one of the family member is finished eating and can tend to the kids while the maid eats.
at home too, maids get to eat the same food that is cooked for all. brand new clothes after every few months and loads of extra cash on births/marriages for their kids/sisters/brothers etc.

I like your family.

Re: But Judge We Do

If they are allowed to share meals in restaurants, made part of all the activities the family enjoys, given good clothes to wear and generally treated well; their expectations from life will go through the roof. They will be in for disappointments. Besides, one day they will have to marry a driver, janitor or peon.
