Busy Ladies...working or not working wives/moms

How do you manage everything? Is it possible to do it all in one day?

I don’t cook a lot these days because of the heat. Maybe twice a week if that much.

I want to work, workout, keep a clean house, cook, laundry, run my errands, watch some TV and DO IT ALL. But I always feel like I am playing catch up.

So how do you all do it? Are the perfect ones really sticking strictly to a schedule? Aren’t schedules boring?

Re: Busy Ladies…working or not working wives/moms

for me … its possible to do it all some days and not on most. Really depends on my energy level on a particular day and on whatever unexpected issues come up that particular day.
we all prioritize in some way … for me … daily must do’s
cooking … i cook 4-5 times per week… i do it around my work schedule.
cleaning … at least some cleaning daily … otherwise it builds up and becomes a whole day job …
laundry … I do this twice (sometimes thrice) a week. I hate hate hate folding an putting clothes away … but its more doable in small amounts vs multiple massive loads in one day

running with/after my toddler i count as exercise :bummer:
I hardly ever watch TV (masterchef and the good wife if i am off those days/times) … and am in awe of those who can find time to …

perfect? is there such a thing?

Re: Busy Ladies…working or not working wives/moms

There is no such thing as perfection, so I’ve stopped expecting it!

Cleaning: I do deep clean (bathrooms, toilets, mopping dusting of the stairs etc) once a week..usually while the kids are at school so I can work uninterrupted…or on Saturday mornings when my husband is home and then the whole family chips in to knock it out. The other days of the week, before I go to sleep, I make the kids join me in a quick 15 minute pick up (anything that is left out, scattered, etc…toys, books, shoes). I vacuum about twice a week. Dishes and kitchen is done daily.

**Cooking: **Because I work from home, and a bulk of my work is showing homes on weekends, I do not cook on friday/sat/sunday!!! It’s either takeout or leftovers. I cook M-F, but it doesn’t have to be daily or elaborate things…I make enough to last my husband and I leftovers for lunch and if one salan goes for 2 days than so be it!
**
Laundry: **As needed.

I don’t have a strict schedule, it’s all about priorities…whatever is needed to be taken care of ASAP gets bumped to the top!

I do a proper clean once a week on the weekend. I dust and tackle the kitchen my husband vacuums and cleans the bathroom. We both do laundry throughout the week. I fold and put clothes away (my husband puts his own clothes away though i fold them).

Re cooking i plan meals and cook or prep at start of the week. Not all meals are elaborate and we get take away on Friday. My husband does the grocery shop on the weekend while i pick up meat and Indian groceries as needed.

We clear toys/clutter daily, vacuum when needed (daily atm as my son is obsessed with vacuuming), and wipe down surfaces as we go.

We watch tv or go gym in the evening or early on the weekend.

Its not always perfect but we work together to make it work. I work 4 days and my hubby full time so we have to keep on top if it. We also get my toddler son involved its all a game to him.

Re: Busy Ladies…working or not working wives/moms

I work for 6 days from july to October, and 2-3 days for rest of the year. I mop downstairs on weekends or if i am home during weekdays and I vacuum every day if i am home otherwise every 2nd day but upstairs weekly as its mostly dust .

i wash kids clothes on Friday and hubbys and mine on week end. I iron straight away and i try to wash 2nd load after ironing first.
now, Ramandan and my busy season, I cooked for sehari several dishes and froze and with aftari we have sandwiches with fruit or channa chat and i make that everyday.

We watch tv every day together other than Ramandan, from 9.30 to 11pm everynight. We watch together either pakistani dramas. indian or enghish movies or english series. Last year we watched all seasons of How I met your Mother. Now we have started 24: live another day and we are upto season 4. now stopped due to Ramandan.

I ussually come home early and hubby is diagonsed with OCD and I hate mess too. so i try to keep house clean, plan and cook and wash and iron asap. i can not relax untill i am done with all chores.

hubby does some house work but usually i finish before he even gets chance. his job is grocessors which i hate to do every weekend.

I try to keep my weekends free and finish all chores before saturday morning.

Re: Busy Ladies…working or not working wives/moms

Just an FYI…honestly there is no such thing as perfect.

Re: Busy Ladies…working or not working wives/moms

cooking almost daily.. weekly menu planning helps with that and I don’t think I spend more than an hour in the kitchen if I know what I am making and have everything at home

Laundry.. I wash a load every other day.. folding… that rarely happens! husband puts away and irons his own clothes so I don’t worry about it.. kids clothes rarely need to be folded/ironed

I have my husband do weekly grocery on weekend but I find myself running to the store too at least once a week!

Vacuum.. every two-three days or as needed.

I go for a walk or run in the evening after husband gets home.. I take one kid with me so he can play in the park fo 10-15 mns after my run.

TV… we don’t have cable or even local tv so I hardly ever watch any… we do have Netflix but that’s more for Thomas and friends for my kid than us

One thing for sure.. I never make cleaning or cooking my priority.. if my kids are crying, I don’t care if my house is messy or there is no home cooked food for dinner… I often find myself sitting on the couch snuggled with my bacha party while there are train tracks and legos all over the house.. I tell myself Alhamdulillah for kids and move on  (my son help me pick up befoe he goes to bed or it literally takes me 10 mins to put everything away.. it can wait ad sometimes it does, for a very long time)

Re: Busy Ladies…working or not working wives/moms

Yup, I spend the morning with my boy. I am potty training him so after lunch i am just exausted. So after lunch we try to get a nap. I mostly start my house/kitchen work around 4pm.
We do laundry every other day or so. Mostly my boys help me with folding and putting away the laundry. When very tired, husband helps emptying the dishwasher. Vacuum every other day or as needed.
My little one helps clean up his toys. I should teach him dusting now.

Re: Busy Ladies…working or not working wives/moms

Schedule will be thrown off even more during Ramzan…esp with working out..cuz you have such limited time to work with.
