Vow of undying love disrupts wedding nightMon May 15, 9:16 AM ET
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - A Malaysian man slapped his wife on their wedding night and stormed out of their home after she received a text message from an unknown admirer who professed his undying love for her.
“Though you are married, I still love you,” was the message that flashed on the screen of the 19-year-old woman’s mobile phone just as the couple were about to enter their room at 2 a.m. Sunday, official news agency Bernama reported.
Her husband, 25, refused to believe the woman’s statement that she did not know who the sender was, hit her, tossed away the phone and walked out of the house, the agency said on Monday, quoting the Borneo Post newspaper.
Police on the rugged eastern island have arrested a man and are investigating after the woman and her family complained about the incident in a case that one official called unique in his 33-year career.
The couple are members of the Iban, a tribe of former headhunters that lives in communal longhouses and makes up about a third of the population of Borneo.
Whom was the Text msg from? Someone she pissed off earlier? or did she get busted?
Another reason why brides (and even grooms) shouldn't carry their cellphones!
On a a more sombre note, assuming the newsstory is correct, the guy obviously has severe self-assurance issues, and is extremely shakki-mizaaj, plus he has no scruples hitting a woman, so over all the girl is probably better off having it end right there.
A woman can have more than one admirer before marriage...What's so unreal about that? Denial is just sad. The more guys a woman has met before marriage, the more she would appreciate your qualities. The guy over-reacted..me thinks.
she should write a book about the ordeal, highlighting the oppressive borneo culture, then become a millionare celebrity in the US and live in a manhattan apartment, where she could spend her time speaking at university events.

Regardless of this was a prank call or actually an ex-bf, he does not have a right to slap the girl, fine if you are under fire from head to toe, just walk away.

I think it was the alleged hitting/slapping the girl that irked the readers of the “news story”. Otherwise if a groom wants to walk out of his wedding/wedding night due to past affair/less jahaiz/small car etc, thats all up to him.
Hitting is definitely not justified. But just imagine, you know this girl, you are getting married to today, for sometime now and you feel deeply lovey dovey with her. With all the hopes of a new life, you are entering your bridal chamber with her and you see this flashy SMS from a man friend of her that you know as well! Man! That would be a heart breaker!!!!!!!
