Share some myths / beliefs / omen by business community you know.
One is ‘Bohni’ referred by KKF in another thread, which is followed by Hindu businessmen in dealing first customer in morning. They say to customer ‘aap subh subh aae hain, aap se kia bhao tao karen’. Though, this is equally followed by Muslims in Pakistan even rikshaw/ taxi wals ‘aap pehli sawari hain… nahin to wahan jane ke liye itne paise waare main nahin aate’.

yeah, i was surprised that this 'Bohni concept' existed in predominantly a Muslim country.
in farmer's market type of baazaars in rural India, there is this concept of 'nijhariyaa' rates [end of the day rates]...the farmer's reduce the price to sell the goods instead of taking it back home which may be miles away whic they may have to travel on foot. they want to travel light. thgis is a symbiotic trade because both are benefited. :)

I think all traders of perishable items follow this practice irrespective of culture.This is common sense

ek maze kaa observation hai meraa yahaN…malls meN, Khaas kar grocery stores ke restaurants meN store band hone par jitnaa bhii cooked food/fried food, jiskii quality Kharaab hone kaa Dar hotaa hai, sab pheNk diyaa jaataa hai…to maiN ne sochaa k yaar yeh log pheNk kiuN dete haiN? 50% price kam kar deN to saare Indian Pakistani Khareed le jaayeNge aur ghar pe ek hafta rakh kar khaayeNge…
…phir, vaise hii mere zehn men jawaab bhii aa gayaa k agar aisa kareNge to hamaare desi log store band hone se 2 ghanTe pahle hii line lagaa kar khaRe ho jaayeNge…inkii dekhaa dekhii gore bhii yeh kaam shuru kar deNge to fresh maal full price pe kaun Khareedegaa?

Other than this first customer myth, people do have certain beliefs about the shubh ghaRi for inauguration of business. Which day is considered lucky for starting business in Hindu community? Mangal...

A milk man(dhoodh wala) in our neighborhood used to distribute sweets(jaleebi) on each Thursday...... karobar main barkat kay liye.....

Other than this first customer myth, people do have certain beliefs about the shubh ghaRi for inauguration of business. Which day is considered lucky for starting business in Hindu community? Mangal...
i think it's shukrvaar [Friday]...Bollywood is the most superstitious place in India...nothing happens without the mahurat. most new movies are launched on a Fridays.
in India and the west, most new movies are screened on a Friday. i dunno why they do it in the west...did Hollywood take Bollywood into consideration? lol

there is no holiday on Saturday in India. it has got to do something with Friday being the auspicious day...isii liye to shukr = thanks kahte haiN! :)
