Business Outfit?

Hello Friends,

Well, I am a student and for a leadership confrence I’ll heading down to the States.
It’s a 3 day confrence, and we have to be dressed up professionally → Business Attire.

Problem is, I do not know what to wear, because I have never dressed up professionally

So any suggestions?
Any stores in TORONTO, where I could find business attire?

Your suggestions and help would be really appriciated.

Takecare =)

Re: Business Outfit?

Whenever I have law moots and seminars to attend I usually end up wearing those corporate looking pencil skirts (generally in black or grey) with a nice top or cardigan (depending on the weather) oh and definetly stockings because these skirts are generally quite short. And a nice pair of black enclosed heels. However, pencil skirts do not suit everyone so if you are on the chubbier side you could go for wider corporate skirts or pants instead. Depending on how formal it is you could match it with a blazer jacket or collared shirt. Keep jewellery and makeup subtle.

Thanks for your reply.

I would love to wear pencil skirts. I am not a fat girl, infact I have perfect weight for my age But I am very consious about my legs, I feel as if they're fat and out of shape. People do tell me that they like my lgs. But if I do end up wearing pencil skirts I will wear it with stockings.

How much are the pencil skirts?

Anyone know wear to shop for this type of attire in Toronto?

Re: Business Outfit?

Sorry, I am not in Toronto or even the USA so I am unsure as to where you would be able to find them but I am sure most department stores would carry them. However, I did buy one down here for $89 (on sale) and most of my other pencil skirts are in the price range of about $65 - $150. (Aust dollars).

Don't worry about your legs because the stockings will define them so if you are conscious of them that won't be a problem.

Do wear good stockings. Cheap ones will rip. Wearing stocking is a better idea because a lot of business professional don't like nude legs. Its not too hot to wear stockings anyway. You can wear an A-line skirts. I love those. Make sure your skirt isn't too short. Till knee is good. You can buy a business suit even and cute pumps

Re: Business Outfit?

Go to a store there called Club Monaco and speak to the sales associate
I'm sure she could help u find simething suitable
for colors go with either navy black Brown grey or pinstripes
wear punches of color with ur blouses or sweaters and or accessories like shoes jewelry or bag
don't lose ur personality or ur style even though it's business ur not meant to look exactly like everyone else

ps they also have sales racks towards the back of their stores which are cheaper but it's discreetly labeled ask them where it is if u dint find it

you are so lucky to be in toronto because here in houston i do not have access to one of my favorite stores, H&M. I think since you don’t wear professional clothing often you may not want to go to club monaco because things can get kinda costly. If I were you i’d go into my local H&M and get some pants that fit through the hips and flare out a bit and a nice fitting jacket or blazer to go with it. this is easy to find there. Also they have some super cute long coats, nice collard shirts to wear with dress pants and cute sweaters to pair over it if needed.

Banana Republic is pricey like club monaco but i do love the quality of materials so for the price it works out.
