I can think of manufacturing sector, because of my experience perhaps.
Due to improvement in auto sector, I believe there are opportunities in small vendor industries.

Money Pakistanis have much more than equivalent class from any country in the world.
Business oppertunities are everywhere.
However, the vision is not!

*I think Manufacture of Electronic Components (ICs, Resistors, Capacitors etc) is a very lucrative business. It involves very small amount of raw material. If the qualiy is good the products have a vast international market. I guess people should go for the Stae-of-the art technology to manufacture Electronic Components in Pakistan *

Why not work on garments - we have the best quality material of different kind. Why not have a organized way of designer sort of dresses, sleepwear, etc.etc. Labor is good, we have good designers who can comeup with color combinations, embriodery etc and then export it. Trust me, I've never seen Pakistani color combinaitons anywhere else. Whenever, I wear those designs, everyone here, asks me about it.
I do see made in Pakistan here sometimes but its not very high standard.

I wonder what the prospects are for setting up an ISO certification consultancy to help industry achieve certification in Pakistan? I know that there are the principals from Europe already but their focus is on large industries, not medium and small enterprises like there is in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Also, not to hijack someone else's thread, but a very good friend in Malaysia manufactures halal cosmetics which are sold in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia - perfumes, soaps, shampoos etc that are free of alcohol and the fats of certain animals. He is expanding int he Middle East - there should be a market for these products in Pakistan as well?

It’s a good idea. But gravity_killz, before anything else, correct your facts & figures that Pakistanis don’t have good buying power. Don’t believe in newspapers, magazines and TV repots, and not even what others tell you. I was recently in Pakistan and had to collect some data on consumers and consumption. The facts that I saw with my own eyes, do not match with what we hear, read and see on TVs.

Garments business could be a good one. I have seen there isn’t any brand name in Pakistan which caters to middle-middle class and upper-middle class. If you make a brand name and spare a good budget for advertisement campaign, you may have a business you would have never thought of. But before anything, examine the market yourself!

Maybe you want to look into outsourcing I.T projects to Pakistan? no tax till 2016, accent seems to be better than India (overall), basic infrastructure is in Pakistan.....

there has to be demand from these sectors for the service to work, the companies you note which areproviding ISO certification/registration services in Pak would go into serving small and medium companies if the demand was there and if the amount these companies were willing to pay were worth the effort.

10 to 15 passenger Aircraft, there is a big market for this size airplanes, i.e air ambulance, air cargo and/or feeder airline.
