Business/IT Recruiter Here?

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

The problem is that companies will want to hire within canada first. Unless you have a really specialized skill and no one in canada can provide it, then you have a chance.
Its best to come here and apply for jobs.
I work for CIBC as a business analyst.

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

Thanks for youre reply RyeGuy. So 'within Canada' huh? Umm, what does that mean exactly? Does it refer to someone who has work authorization in Canada (or a permanent resident or citizen)? Or, within Canada just means that the individual is 'present' in Canada, has a Canadian address to receive mail?

Oh CIBC. My brother-in-law also works for CIBC in Toronto.

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

rafayali I would suggest that you post ur resume on monster.ca, workopolis.ca and hotjobs.ca, I am sure they have a section where you can click to say u need immigration. However, its really hard to get a job if you have only education and no experience; yet, I see you are graduate from Pakistan so it will be tough for you. If you are American citizen then I am sure you will be able to get a visa to canada. But I suggest you begin with baby steps and don't assume miracle will happen over night. You would have to be patient with these things. Eventhough I have canadian experience and education, it was hard for me to find a job as well. Right now IT market is not doing that well, but its better than what we had 2 or 3 yrs ago. I wish you all the best.

Mywish thanks for the intro, I wasn't expecting it though :D

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

ask ur bro-in-law to hook u up with a job :) fwd ur resume to HR for any openings etc...thats how networking works, seriously...

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

:) no thanks PD.

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

rafay

how do u like the curriculum at hamdard uni?

secondly. for jon hunting

1) use resume posting sites,
2) You may want to reconsider changing your resume aproach to showcase projects thatu worked on and results, a functional resume versus a chronological resume
3) when ppl say its tough to find a job when you are not in canada, part of it is because recruiters shy away from candidates who are not in the immediate region, its more expensive for companies to recruit them as well as takes more effort. additionally work status may have an impact as well
4) you may want to contact some group like CAMp in toronto to get u introduced to some ppl with similar backgrounds in the area who can help you.

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

Thanks for your postings guys.
pagaldeewani vbmenu_register(“postmenu_3619181”, true); : My resume is up on all three of them, but no employer has ever even viewed my resume. I doubt if these sites really work. I was thinking of enrolling in school for a Masters program as well. That might help me out if my Pakistani degree is unable to defend itself.

DesiMunda: Ya, may be  lol

Fraudz: Curriculum in Hamdard is good. It’s just the way that we are taught that is bull****. There are students who know more than the teacher and on occassions the teacher is left looking stupid in front of the whole class. This degrades the teacher’s and the school’s credibility. Curriculum by itself is one of the finest in Pakistan, nonetheless. With reference to your comment that employers are hesitant if the employee is not from an immediate region, I can always return on a short moment’s notice as I do not need a visa. Additionally, I have both US and Canadian addresses where I receive mail. So showing immediate region is not a problem.

Thanks for helping me out guys.

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

rafayali they do work, I have got interviews and jobs through them and so did my friends. Okay so if you have canadian address, use that address when you are applying for jobs. However, it might be a better idea if you enroll in master prog here and take up a part time job.

Cuz thats what they want education with experience even with recent graduates.

DM is right, ask your bro-in-law to help you out. I know we all are hesitants when it comes to family, but you need something to get in the door.

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

i wish i had a bro in law in england, i would certianly not hesitate

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

Thanks for sharing a positive situation on this thread pagaldeewani. I was actually thinking of going to law school.

MYWish, why would you want to move to England? I heard that the cost of living is way too high over there. Where do you live right now? If you want to move from North America to England, you might be making a mistake. However, if you are moving from Pakistan to England, that's fine then.

Re: Business/IT Recruiter Here?

i am already living in england rafia, and have been unemployed for most of the year, and yes it is very very expensive. I mved from Pk. and no life in Pk was much better.
