Re: Business dress code in Dubai for female employees???
Dress codes in the UAE business circles are more along western lines, so yes, you will be expected, though not required to dress up in a pant suit or skirt, though I have seen employees and professional ladies wearing shalwar kameez and saris as well.
Do keep in mind that they have defined the dress code, not the dress. Dress code means anything that is not too showy or fashionable, and shows that you mean business. Chances are, you will be able to pull it off with standard Pakistani dresses as well.

You can wear anything to work in dubai. In my work place most of the women generally wear dress pants & top. Although skirts, indian shalwar suits & pakistani long shirts & trousers are also not uncommon.
Re: Business dress code in Dubai for female employees???
Depends on your organisation and job profile. Although you can wear salwar kameez, its just preferable to wear western. Looks more professional and businesslike.
Here in Bahrain, I've seen a lot of Indian ladies wear Salwar kameez but not in very high profile jobs or establishments. Usually smaller companies.
The Arabs themselves wear western with the head scarf . Looks amazing. They even wear abaya. All depends on your company. I've know Arabs who don't hire girls wearing abaya or headscarf which is weird.
Since yours is a secretarial post, salwar kameez shouldn't ideally be a problem, but since they have mentioned the dress code I guess you gotta go with that. Formal pants and top is the best. You're covered and you can move around freely.
Re: Business dress code in Dubai for female employees???
my friend is a PA/Sec to the CEO of a multinational company and she is mostly in short skirts, formals such as fasionable tops and blazers with pants, high heels, blow dired hair and makeup everyday!! She's epected ot always look pretty and professional as she has to sometimes even travel with the CEO to meetings.
So, i guess it entirely depends on the company and the person whom you're working for.

thank you all for ur inputs :)
i dont want to expose my self weraring minies and all, arabic style long skirt is a gud idea, also i was thinking if i can wear long frock styled top with skinny jeans or tights, with some classy cuts. and a collar scarf. so that it can b a mix n match of eastern n western looks :p
Re: Business dress code in Dubai for female employees???
Reminds me of that girl I once interviewed for a position in my team. She was dressed as if she had just been out with her friends, ie definitely not business like.
Apart from that she was not really qualified either so it was an easy decision.
Re: Business dress code in Dubai for female employees???
Besides the long skirt, business suits (pants and blazers with a shirt) look very good. Personally I find it hard to find tops that go with long skirts.

thats how most of the arab girls dress up... western dresses with tights with a long sleeved cardigan or blazer plus scarf.
Dubai being multicultural place the western business dress code is not as strictly followed as other countires so wearing desi attire to work maynot look that odd as it does in UK/US.
