BUSH: HOLDING THREE JOBS ‘UNIQUELY AMERICAN’

Last Friday when promoting social security reform with ‘regular’ citizens in Omaha, Nebraska, President Bush walked into an awkward unscripted moment in which he stated that carrying three jobs at a time is ‘uniquely American.’
While talking with audience participants, the president met Mary Mornin, a woman in her late fifties who told the president she was a divorced mother of three, including a ‘mentally challenged’ son.
The President comforted Mornin on the security of social security stating that ‘the promises made will be kept by the government.’
But without prompting Mornin began to elaborate on her life circumstances.
Begin transcript:
MS. MORNIN: That’s good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.
THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?
MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.
THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn’t it? I mean, that is fantastic that you’re doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)

Congratulations UTD, you have again proven be the master of invocation...wait is that a word. Well you know what I mean. You want to tell people about the SS lock box that Dems were promising back in 2000. Where did they say they will keep it? and Who will have the key? Under Gore's Desk and he will keep the key. Now that can only be expected from a liberal i.e to take money from american public and use it the way he sees fit.

Anyone know why Bush..(who btw has gone bankrupt in business before)…thinks spending 2 Trillion dollars to create personal savings accounts is gona save social security in the long run? Bush who in his first term did not veto a single bill?
Now … someone is gona earn some of that 2 Trillion dollars…who’s it gona be?
It’s bs to have to pay that amount of money to set up private accounts…wall street should take the hit of the costs..as a large amount of social security trustfund money will end up there…they should not be allowed to use the excuse that it will be many small accounts…those many millions of small accounts add up.
No investment expert here…but…I would think the monies of many small accounts will pool together depending on investment choices…so…
And government employees including those elected should be getting the same benefits of medicare and social security as the rest of America…
nothing more..nothing less.
What the hell is the difference between a private ssi savings account and a 401k..or an ira for that matter?
Our government is at fault for percieved ssi shortfalls…what right do and did they have to spend our SSI surplus money in the first place?
Hey..I wonder if this plan goes through if we will later be taxed on gains? (if any?)

Here is your tax dollars at work…
An example from close to home… There is a private golfcourse near my home which has be deemed historical..and they are getting tax breaks to make repairs etc… Disgusts me. Costs at least 20k annually to be a member…the general public does not benefit from a revamped clubhouse..unless invited to a wedding or party held by a member.
There are also wealthy areas of my city which have gained TIF? funds. These funds are supposed to used be for revitalizing run down areas. Disgusting that funds are being used to revitalize an area which one must relatively wealthy to reside.
On another note…be nice if government brought back interest deductions…used to be able to deduct credit card interest, automobile loan interest etc…
I think possible that bringing that back might help to create jobs..and be an incentive to purchase goods one would not otherwise purchase.

Cutting Veterans benefits as part of budget package?
Understand this idea as political ploy…but what nerve…sending American GI’s to war and on the back end offering to cut vet benefits in the budget…what a guy that Bush is? Why hasn’t the media pounced on this?

AA, The Bush budget includes cuts in funding to Healthcare, the EPA, Education, Agriculture, and Labor dept. It includes increases in funding to DOD and Home Land Security. It's not much of a story because when Congress get's done with the budget it will look very different than the one Bush submitted.

AA and UTD those numbers that you quote 2 trillion dollars they include all the mess starting from the initial stages of SS. Whose gonna pay for it..ever heard of stock market? Yes there is a street called Wall Street in NY.

The 2 trillion dollars is the estimated cost to semi-privatise SSI as Bush wants to.
I’m saying that I believe wallstreet would enjoy an influx of SSI monies…even if tiny accounts at first..the sheer number..will be trillions in total going in…
Wall street should absorb the 2 trillion the government estimates it would cost to set up these private accounts… rather than taxpayer money…and cutbacks of funding programs established for the needy.
Let wallstreet make bids for the rights to invest public SSI monies…They should pay taxpayers…by absorbing costs to set up accounts…and no load fees for managing the funds..as is my thinking the stockbrokers, mutual fund, investment companies are gona make tons of money with such large influx of funds…
