Bush: I would accept Islamic state in Iraq!

US President George W Bush has said he would accept an Islamic government in Iraq as the result of free elections.

Mr Bush told the Associated Press in an interview that he would accept such a result if elections were open and fair.

“I will be disappointed. But democracy is democracy,” he said during an interview given on Air Force One.

“If that’s what the people choose, that’s what the people choose,” he said. Free elections are expected in the country next January.

Speaking as he travelled between campaign stops, Mr Bush said the US would leave Iraq “once we’ve helped them to get on the path of stability and democracy”.

He added: “It’s very difficult for me to predict what forces will exist although I will tell you that Iraq’s leadership has made it quite clear that they can manage their own affairs at the appropriate time.”

Correspondents say Mr Bush’s comments appear to clash with earlier remarks from his administration which rejected calls soon after the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime for the creation of an Islamic state similar to that of its neighbour, Iran.
Bush: I would accept Islamic Iraq

A fair election yeah right when you have a CIA puppet in allawhi and an an occupation US army in Iraq everyone knows it is a stage managed election and everyone already knows the result

Good for him! Though I do believe he will flip-flop on this one.

:jazak:
Yeah if he can accept an Islamic state, I gotta Brooklyn Bridge for sale. Highly doubtful but if Good Ole Muqtada Al-Sadr became the next Iraqi President, I wonder if Bushmeister will break bread with him?

An Islamic puppet government may be but not the one chosen (with fair elections) by the Iraqi people.

**The ground reality is:

US has only 1.8% of the World’s Crude Oil reserves

US consumption of Petroleum is 26% of the whole world

US imports 56% of the petroleum products to meet its local demand

Iraq has 10% of the World’s Curde Oil reserves (2nd largetst in the world after Saudia) and its consumption is less than 0.3% of the world***

Just five countries in the Middle East sit on top of nearly two-thirds of the proven oil reserves in the world. Of these five, only Iran and Iraq remain outside of the U.S. sphere of influence, possibly the real reason why President Bush designated them, along with North Korea, as the "axis of evil. "
The U.S. is the world’s leading consumer, using over 26 percent of daily consumption despite having less than 5 percent of the world’s population. It is increasingly dependent on foreign oil, having imported 56 percent of domestic supplies in 2000 (though most of this comes from Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela).
The petro-cabinet assembled by Bush has hopscotched the world- from Central Asia and Equatorial Africa to the Andean region and Alaska-to secure more sources to feed the West. Yet, oil discoveries peaked in the 1960s. Today, newly discovered reserves amount to only one-quarter of annual global consumption.
Since the first oil well began pumping in Titusville, Pennsylvania on August 27, 1859, some 900 billion barrels of oil have been sucked out of the earth. Slightly over I trillion barrels in proven reserves exist around the world. Forecasting future discovery is tricky at best, but perhaps another half-trillion barrels of oil in undiscovered conventional reserves remains hidden.
It’s estimated that world production will peak between 2010 and 2020. Skeptics, led by disciples of M. King Hubbert, who accurately predicted in 1956 that oil production would peak in the lower 48 states around 1970, contend that prices will rise sharply after 2010 as production peaks and reaches a point of diminishing returns.

I think it says something about the petro-politics of Bush Administration. I see Dubya pulling his hair in oval office, screaming ** We are running out of Gas, lets invade Iran before those EU makes a deal with them**

Thats what the real US president (Dick Cheney:fraudia: ) wanted to do, lift the embargos from Iran, so Halliburton could get more wealth.
