Bush administration forced cuts in flood protection in N.O. ($ went to Iraq)

Re: Bush administration forced cuts in flood protection in N.O. ($ went to Iraq)

I have not been following it that much on the news (i.e. sitting in front of the TV and absorbing every news item), but I did see yesterday that one news telecaster was very upset at the troops. He said the American citizens who were in distress were piled up in areas, and that the borders of these areas were manned by troops. The citizens were feeling like Iraqis, the newscaster complained. Instead of helping them and getting needed food etc to them, they were standing there with guns patrolling the area, as if these people are being held prisoners...

Sure Bush is saying things on TV to please keep calm (any idiot can do that sitting miles and miles away from damage - that's no especial skill of Bush's), but how many of these people have TV's, may I ask?

All they are seeing is what instructions the troops are giving them and that the troops are patrolling them with guns as if they're dogs in a pound. If I were in the situation, I'd be scared and very very very angry. May God help Bush if I ever got out of there alive and in one piece.
