I was in Newport for Hurricane Bob in 1991. We got an evacuation order, but I sent to a local nursing home and volunteered. But even if I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have evacuated. It's human nature not to want to leave your home. Bob hit with 100mph winds, and the power was off for 5 days.
Somehow I think that Category 4 or Category 5 does not really describe the power of this storm. The swath of damage is hundreds of miles wide, and a long way inland.
