Your Guardian-Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne* (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil o'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!
*Commentray: Here, we are told of the creation of the heavens and the earth in six days. But lest we should be obsessed with the Jewish idea that Allah rested on the seventh day, we are told that the Creation was but a prelude to Allah's work: for His authority is excercised constantly by the laws which He establishes and enforces in all parts of His Creation. The beautiful imagery of night and day seeking out each other in rapid succession is still further enforced in the Arabic by the double accusative of the verb yugshi, showing the mutual interactions of the day and night, each covering the other in turn. The heavenly bodies show an order which is evidence of His constant care and government. Not only that, but it is ony He Who creates, maintains, and governs, and no one else.
13:3. And it is He who spread out the earth, and set thereon mountains standing firm and (flowing) rivers: and fruit of every kind He made in pairs, two and two*: He draweth the night as a veil** o'er the Day. Behold, verily in these things there are signs for those who consider!
Commentary:
* I think that refers to sex in plants, and I see M.P. has translated accordingly. Plants like animals have their reproductive apparatus,-make stamens and female pistils. In most cases the same flower combines both stames and pistils, but in some cases these organs are specialised in separate flowers, and in some cases, even in separate trees. The date palm of Arabia and Papaiya in India, are instances of fruit which are uni-sexual.
**See 7:54 and it's commentary. The whole passage there may be compared with the whole passage here. Both similarity and their variation how how closely reasoned the whole argument is, with expressions exactly close to each occasion.
31:10. He created the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; He set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and He scattered through it beasts of all kinds. We send down rain from the sky, and produce on the earth every kind of noble creature, in pairs.
36:36. Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge.
42:11. (He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things).

The commentary is of Yusuf Ali. Im not sure if it's available on the net, but if you have a copy of Yusuf Ali's translation, then you would find it easier to read it youself.
So my point is,, that Allah made chickens in pairs, male and female,, then unda came from them :p... then they multiplied..
just like all other animals...
