Burqa/abaya & naqaab

:salam:

I just want to know one thing. For women going to Umrah, wearing burqa/abaya & naqaab are absolutely mandatory while travelling to Saudi Arabia?

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

what do you mean it's mandatory while going to Umrah? it's mandatory whenever you step out of the house. of course!** in Islam, women may wear whatever you call it but she must be in Hijaab. **

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

:smack: I mean there are some women who prefer covering using big dupattas, instead of wearing burqas.

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

So, I mean to ask, wearing big dupattas are okay, or burqas are mandatory?

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

**u are just required to cover urself as prescribed by Islam. you just need to cover ur satar which is from head to toe except face and hands. it must be a loose clothing so it doesn’t show the contour of ur body…you are also supposed to throw something on your chest which can be a rupatta or a shawl or large scarf. it’s so simple. **

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

Haa so that means even big dupattas are okay. Some people told me burqas & naqaab are only absolutely mandatory :smack:

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

This is not a debate of how things should be, but a question of what to do in a particular situation.

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

yeah, rupatta is fine…somene didn’t give you the correct info.

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

Thanks for clarifying it! :)

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

u r most welcome :)

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

You can wear anything you like as long as it is loose and covers your hair and body properly (during Umrah). Niqab is not necessary. If you're going to travel within Jeddah I'd recommend wearing an abaya though. The Saudis don't seem to like it when people don't wear an abaya.

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

But face should be covered too, except the eyes, right?

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

Nope, no need to cover the face! Scarf is enough.

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

No it doesn't. Also I've seen plenty of Umrah women without abayas, they just cover up in their traditional dress. The local people prefer abayas.

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

when travelling for umrah it is advisable to wear a long gown/coat with a headscarf..
people who were in shalwar kamise with long shawls or big duppatta found people treated them rudely..
unfortunately pakistanis have a hard time everywhere..
we all wore long abaya with headscarfs didnt have any of the problems the rest of ladies had in our group

during umrah and hajj you do not cover your face, as this is your identity

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

**identity? for Allah or for the authorities there?

i don't think so...u do NOT cover face for two reasons at least:

  1. it's NOT required Islamically to cover ur face
  2. its hazardous to cover face while walking and doing things surrounded by a huge number of Hajis.**

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

and if your lost in a crowd it is easy to identify you...by family

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

are jab kho jaayeNgii tab kii tab dekhii jaayegii…vaise baRii door kii sochii…it depends if the hubby would like to find his lost wife or will he be more than happy to have her lost? hehehe :cb:

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

very funny  KKF

have you been to SA…haj or umrah

when we went on umrah alhumdolilah we didnt get lost but some ppl do ,so we wr all told about just the head covering thing…

Re: Burqa/abaya & naqaab

It's just not that u shouldn't cover your face during Hajj, it's that you CANNOT do it for Hajj to be valid. Even Saudis remove their niqaabs for Hajj.
