I’ve been told by aunties to stop burning candles! I never read anywhere it’s haram or makroo.
One of them said I was imitating kafir. But I don’t use candles during prayers! Anyone ever heard that one? The dark Autumn and winter are my candleburning months. I love candles. They create a nice and warm atmosphere and I love that smell.
Please shed some light anyone?

burning candles is not prohibited....
some people burn candles and them extinguish them with their breath after making a wish (comonly seen on birthdays), and this practice is forbidden....
otherwise nothing wrong with candles....

If it would have been forbidden, I would have had replies with good reasonings as to why it would be forbidden. So far, nothing. Because there really isn't any aya or hadith forbidding it. (I think..)

No, that's what I first thought too, but the aunties made me doubt. Better be sure about it before I buy more candles.

In some places on earth burning candles/agar-batti means there has been use of pot. (Drug-abuse)

mmm i love candles too.. those coloured tea lights all round the room... so comforting and relaxing. thank goodness its ok to do that.
