burned hair after laser

so i got this laser treatment for facial hair..
its been 5,6 days now…and the hair that were burned are still there and hard..and the area near the chin is darker too because of it..
wat shud i do??
shud i thread them off..wud threading change the effect of laser treatment on hair growth??

You should not go to same place again.

PS: Gina asked me to take care of fashion and beauty for today.

I've had laser treatment done on 4 different areas and have had 4 different treatments over the course of 2 years. The place I went to used YAG laser and registered nurses did the treatment. I NEVER experienced what you wrote here (ie. darketing of skin and "hard" hair").

My areas would be red and welted for a few HOURS afterwards and that was it. I don't mean to freak you out but if I were you, I'd go to a doctor.

^ What she said, none of the things you've mentioned should be happening.. please see a dermatologist and have it shown.

p.s. Monk, I don't remember saying anything of such. Please help ladies spot-reduce in Health & Fitness.

well you can shave it or use hair removing cream.

Re: burned hair after laser

LostAngel - was the area shaved before treatment? It absolutely must be.

When you have a Laser treatment, the remainder of the hair (what's left after shaving in the skin) absorbs the laser energy and heats up the follicle and surrounding area, thus disabling the follicle (providing good treatment settings are used).

After treatment one of two things can happen.
(1) The hairs will appear to keep growing (but slowly), this is known as shedding and anywhere from 1-3 weeks after treatment (depending on body area) they will start falling out. Then you will have a hair free period until the next growth cycle comes through.
(2) The remainder of the hair in the follicle becomes 'stuck'. These are known as pepper spots and usually they stay for quite some time. As long as the hair doesn't grow like usual (if it does, the treatment wasn't effective), it's okay. Either the pepperspots will slough away after a few more weeks, or the next treatment will get rid of them. The main thing is that you shouldn't see new hairs come through for a few more weeks.

My sister had pepper spots on her arms for 6-8 weeks then they started sloughing off. Then the next cycle of growth started coming through.

Just don't touch them. You can gently exfoliate to help them come out but they might not. Do not wax, thread or pluck.

Re: burned hair after laser

thx stoppit ,she did trim them up with a trimer and
A lot of them have already fallen out.

well that's good then. the one's left aren't anything to worry about, although i do know they look unsightly but that's just one of the things you have to go through.

for future treatments, i would recommend that the doctor (or whoever does the treatment) shaves the area. ideally, it will be as close a shave as possible.

trimming isn't enough. any part of the hair above the surface of the skin will be 'fried' and burn, there is absolutely no need for this, it doesn't make the treatment more effective. all you end up with is that nasty burning smell.
