I fully agree with mAd_ScIeNtIsT Bengali's settled in Pakistan before 1971, should rightly be entitled to Pakistani citizenship. They have done nothing to demonstrate any loyalty to Bangladesh, and have continued to live in Pakistan since 1971. Illegals who entered Pakistan after 1971 are a different case...
As for the Burmese. I have read somewhere else that they are Burmese Muslims of Arakan origin, who have escaped persecution by the Myanmar/Burmese authorities. They even have their own settlement called "Burmi Colony" in the Korangi area of Karachi.

Point taken, Man. But we gotta be careful about their status. Don't we? ;)
I believe Karachi is host to some 3 million refugees, Burmese, bengalis, Africans and countless others including Indians.
Those who have been settled for a long period of time deserve the right of citizenship. They'll invest openly and will be rpoud of their citizenship. The rest should be deported, Quetta , Peshawar and Karachi civic systems have collapsed under the weight of all these immimgrants.
If they are loyal to Pakistan, why do they call themselves Bengalis up to now then?

Why should they stop calling htemselves by the region they came from? I'm loyal to Pakistan, but I call myself Hyderabadi because my family is originally from Hyderabad in India. Bengali Pakistanis have just as much right to call themselves Bengalis as Balochis have to call themselves Baloch, Sindhis have to call themselves Sindhi, Pashtuns have to call themselves Pashtun, etc. It's natural that irrespective of where people's loyalties lies, they will call themselves by whatever region they originate from.
Interesting article.. I never thought if there were so many Burmese in Pak..so where in Pak are they residing.. I know a guy here in USA whose dad married a burmese woman but I thought he married in Burma.. I never asked bout it..

Degas, they are mostly resident in Karachi. As are millions of Bangladeshi's, along with hundreds of thousands of Afghans, Indian Muslims, Iranians, Sri Lankans, Africans, and numerous other nationalities from Asia and the Muslim world.
I know a few Burmese people in Pakistan. They have even started intermarrying with local people, and now you can't even tell much of the younger generation apart from others. They also speak flawless Urdu.
We should get rid of all illegals in Pakistan, and Afghan refugees. We cannot afford to support these illegals, the Indian Muslims perhaps could stay-as they are actually running for there lives-but the Afghans, Bangalis and others should be forced out like in Europe. Deported.

No Indian will voluntarily want to move to pakistan -
more broadly, what is this latest fashion about cracking down on illegal immigrants? India said they'll crack down on illegals and tighten visa regulations; US said same (again) and immediately pakistan has to do declare they have the same issue too! why now?

do you seriously think that any Indian will want to live in pakistan after seeing what is and what has been happening over there? my intent is not to claim India is a land of milk and honey - because it is not for a lot of us; but in terms of current state and potential, one has a far better chance in India than in pakistan. add freedom to that and it is a slamdunk.
your govt has made it a habit of making atrocious claims such as this to keep the populace from looking at the real problems facing pakistan.
