Sara, forget worrying about what your cousins back home are doing. Really, as much as it is true, it is afterall about just a fragment of our society. A girl indulging in pre-marital sex or guys taking drugs represent a miniscule section of the population. However, others getting drawn into the fold gradually, subtly, consciously is worrisome no doubt but thats bound to happen and I believe almost all the societies across the board are facing these pressures from without.
Ranghan: There is one thing that I feel we keep going back to or harping on, and I would object to that. What does enlightened moderation has to do with all this? I mean why do we have to read this concept/phenomenon/or his statement in the context of religion alone. Or do you think us/we as a nation or people morally and ethically have reached a nadir that someone's pronuncements would profoundly affect us, such that we would all go astray.
I find that amusing, really. We seriously need to change our perspective and stop viewing everything in a negative light. If we keep the same line of thinking then we would find Khatmai's 'dialogue between civilizations' equally offensive.no?
I believe its the parents who should be accountable, that is if they really think they aren't doing a good enough job. Why do we have to blame a leader or someone else for the ills that plague our society.
