Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
I have I guess. Just the one. But it looked Pakistani, not Indian in style.

Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
^ lol its true. i don't think she would take it very well. i've never even see a bunto lehenga, let alone one with a choli.
SGC, do you have any idea what goes with those beautiful long sleeved shirts by Bunto? Are they shararas or ghararas?
I know ghararas are her forte. But I am a lil' confused. My MIL said that maximum you can go, in terms of sleeves, with a farshi is upto elbow.
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
^ I see what your MIL is saying, but I've seen Bunto pair up both full sleeve and upto elbow length shirts with farshi ghararas. Still prefer the full length sleeves though...

Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
i love the 1st one ![]()
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
^ me too!
also, i prefer link number 2 - the red jora worth 10 lakh over the 3/4th sleeves one.
the prices are crazy nuts but hey, if it works for you, go for it! they're all beautiful, intricate outfits. i'm sure you will look gorgeous! :)
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
agreed that red one is better than the one u selected :)
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
GULPS
Aheemm .. Why O’ why :-P.
But I agree. The one Mahira is wearing is worth dying for!
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
Ziggy I also totally love the elegance off full sleeves but at the same time I can’t seem to decide b/w a full sleeved shirt and a ‘following this’
Don’t know what to call it. Have mentioned it on Bridal Pics too, to get a name for it.
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
^ it looks like a fabric cuff. i've actually never seen this!
i'd go with full sleeves. can't beat the elegance of those!
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
it will not work wth full sleeves ![]()
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
hey guys ... have been a lurker on this forum for a while and absolutely love it!! since u guys seem to know so much about pakistani clothes, i wanted to ask ul a question - which designer would you prefer for a wedding jora - bunto kazmi or umar sayeed??
i want my wedding jora (indian lehenga with choli style outfit) from either one of these designers since price is not the issue ... im thinking of getting something in the range of 9-10 lakhs pkr (since im from india, that means its only 5 lakh indian rupees which is not tooo bad considering the top end designers here chanrge excess of 10-15 lakhs i.e. approx 25-30 lakhs pkr for a jora!!!!)
my requirement is something unbelievably stunning and intricate ... real zari embroidery and delicate heirloom worthy stuff... i want very wide borders in my dupatta and lehenga and a fully worked choli... lehenga should also be filled with work...
what do u guys suggest? shld i do bunto or umar?? i understand these are the 2 very top end designers of pak but who is more worth it in terms of giving value for money??? i know bunto is amazing but i also loveeeeee the intricate work borders of sayeed...his work is soooo different and u can immediately identify one of his pieces...but is umar just a fad??? i know bunto is considered to be a piece u can pass down generations - can the same be said for an umar ?any idea if umar an outfit uses real zari like how bunto does????
would really appreciate it if you guys cld give me ur opinion!! pros and cons of getting a bunto and Umar? esp in terms of actual karigari and ofcourse the "impression/reputation" these two designers' clothes have in pak!
(pls lets not start the argument of why someone wld spend that much money on clothes etc etc)
thanksss!
Ever since I've joined this forum.. I've thought of the same thing. And you are right about the pricing as well. If you convert into INR it doesn't seem unattainable if you plan and save ahead.
But I wonder how it would transform into a ghagara choli ?? Would it still look that good ??
Besides how do u end up going to Pakistan ?? Specially with an Indian passport ?? I don't think they take order over the phone ??
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
^ you can visit pakistan with an indian passport. you just have to apply for a visa much earlier than your expected travel date, i think. i could be mistaken about that though... anyone have any experience with this?
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
heyy guyss.. well payal my best friend is from karachi and is getting married this in nov/dec this year.. so i will be going for her wedding to khi .... that is when i plan to order the clothes... thus needed to take a decision earlier and take appnts with bunto/umar etc so that they will be able to make the outfit for me...
have already inquired about visa and it is possible, but like somegroovychick said, we jst need to apply in advance and have all documents ready... for me it shouldnt be too mch of a hassle coz i have the wedding invite card as well as a letter from her family stating that i will be staying with them etc .basicially that they will be hosting me ... anyways i will be staying only fr a week max so getting a visa for so many days only is not too mch of a hassle - but ya, the host letter should be detailed and specific.. also the only hassle i shall face is that i will have to go to the police station in karachi everyday and report to them daily... lollll ...
there are also regular flights from bombay that go to khi...ofocurse, until te visa is not in my hand we cant say anything but hopefully i will get it..
and if for some sad reason i do not get a visa (which would suckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk coz we are best friendsssss since 6 years -stayed together abroad for 3/6 years!) , another friend of mine from khi is a relative of bunto (not gonna give out too many details coz its such a public forum) ... and she has assured me that she can coordinate with bunto and get me as many outfits as i want ... as fr umar sayeed, also luckily my friends in khi have said that they will coordinate everythinggg - all i need to do is pick design and send measurementsss.... they will regularly go and oversee the work and send me pics etc... so im quite okkkk about not being in pak while the order takes place incase of visa issues i dont get to go...
also ppl surprisingly, bunto has apparantly done tonsssssssssss of indian bridals... a couple of my far relatives wear loads of bunto's so bunto is familiar with the indian cuts etc. its jus that coz the ppl wear it here and dont upload the pic online, its not easily available... but yes, its true tht very few ppl know who is bunto unless they dont have friends from pak (usually uni friends) who introduce them to bunto outfits..
however,,, sana safinaz is veryyyy popular here and u get it in loadss of shops etc (mostly the lawn stuff).. there are also tonsss of pak exhibitions taking place each year here ... infact, the outfits with the pakistani lace borders and lace ajaars etc are quite a rage here in india... ppl r buying loads for summer!
so ya, luckily coz of my large friend circle in khi, i can confidently order expensive outfits... my friends regularly shop at nomi ansari, SS, bunto, US, aeisha varsey, sania maskatiya, sanya muneer etc.. infact they are very close the designers even socially...
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
Gosh i just looked at the Bhagnani sangeet function on another bollywood forum.... disaster !!!!
Bollywood and the effin saas bahu serials will be the death of fashion in India !!!!
Yikes !!!!
U're lucky to have friends that will coordinate your outfits for you from Pak !!!! Indian designer's have gone cuckoo !!!
So where are you based?? Are you planning these outfits for your wedding ??
Re: bunto vs umar sayeed for baraat?
I think they call that a Bahee or something like that. My Mother used to have one - it’s like a long gold bracelet, with strings of pearls connecting both ends of the cuff. I think long sleeves are out of the question if you plan to wear one?
