karma are my other favourite designer- i don't think they've made anything that i've felt meh about... having said that, i'd still go with bunto for my wedding dress. the lady is class and she knows how to make a gorgeous, traditional dress. which is the other thing, if you're looking for something very modern, then go with karma, cos as far as i know, bunto always does really classic designs. she's also a designer in her own right, by which i mean, she knows colors and combos and kaam really well, so i'd feel very comfortable letting her know what i wanted and having her take over from there, but she's the ONLY one i'd do that with... everyone else gets the anal side of me, and this opinion i've garnered from friends with similar taste and exactly the same attitudes :p

as for an appointment, i believe you have to call. i don't have her number though, sorry.

if you PM me your email address, i can send you my friend's pics. i took them off cos some of the comments were really blunt and while i appreciate everyone having their own opinions, i didn't want my friends to come across them and be hurt. obviously bunto's style is not to everyone's taste. :)

i'm not sure about prices in rupees, but 2 lakhs sounds like a lotta dough, so i'd say you're safe there.

anyone else have any thoughts about bunto?

the dress is cute...i dont understand one thing....how comes the gharara "gooat" is below the knees........isn't it supposed to be right at the knees.......confused......:):)

do u have more designs....u know i absolutely lovveeee looking at these designs...i draw myself and the first time i saw a bunto--i thought her tings are soo much like my drawings!!!!!! elegant and traditional.....

Yes, she definitely does.

we've actually placed an order with her for a heavy formal wear piece for my bhaabi's trousseau. This was all arranged on the phone through Bunto's daughter, Fizza who I think manages overseas orders?

Bunto is really nice to speak to over the phone...you could contact her on:

021-4520939.

I think her workshop hours are from 11am-1pm Paki time, however i've been able to find her still there in the afternoon on occasion.

From what I remember, her bridal pieces I think start from about 2 lakhs and onwards. Her daughter said that most clients trust Bunto's ability to design an outfit for them, as she doesn't keep samples in the workshop for people to view. She generally will speak to you about the colour and cut of the outfit, and then she just takes it on from there...

For got to mention that she genrally has a 6 month waiting list. I was able to get a delivery for our outfit for May, and the order was placed in the beginning of January. She actually gave me a date for June/July initially as she was completely booked up, but I got her to agree May instead. Bear that in mind if you decide to go with her.

She will also deliver the outfit to you if you live abroad, so that shouldn't be a problem either...

I only have a picture from the back of the outfit that we ordered. This one was made for someone else, but the one we requested will be a coat in the same way with trousers, all in royal blue. It’s all Swarovski crystals kaam on the front and back, along the collar and the sleeves. The cuffs of the trousers will also have some light work to match…

The front of the outfit is pretty heavy and more beautiful. It was an image I came across in a magazine last year. They were actually sorting their catalogue at the time and didn’t have many pics to show.
