Where can I buy these? I have looked everywhere but cant seem to find a retailer. yes, minimalist is moi.
Saamir and Zain dont need a room for each. I am thinking about converting one of their rooms as play/study and the other as bedroom.

Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
Do you have IKEA there? You should find it in Ikea.
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
how old are they ? would they not need a barrier so they dont fall out of the bed?
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
Ikea does not have any cantilever beds.
7 and 2 .. but its ok if they fall. they will learn. .. . esthetics is more important to me. :D
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
^google karo phir. or look into Classified pages.
Saadia do you know where he cant get the beds with barriers?
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
No I don't but you could surly ask a local carpenter to make something like these.
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
I am also looking for them for my boys ,they share a tinny room and need a computer table .i cant find anything great here ,didnt like what ikea have in stores at the moment .ilva had a good one which isnt available anymore :-(
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
^ can you check with them if they can make them for you on order?
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
i have a bunk bed ...........i bought it from uae when v use to live there ........its still like new
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
These would be very easy to build.......save yourself from the designer price tag.
Make sure to use foam mattresses so the weight is also minimal.......
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
they remind me of Pakistani train ke beds. I think DIY is the way.
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
Nice looking. Installation should be an issue cause you need some serious stud strength (by stud I dont mean you, the 2X4s behind your drywall), although I hope that the frames are not 100% cantilevered and are supported by the ladder on the other side.
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
The ladder will not/should not provide any support.
The key will be using studs in the walls. If they are the standard 16" apart then you should be able to have access to at least four of them. That will be enough until the boys are at least 12 and 7.
put them on a minimalist diet and you may get another five years...... ;-)
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
That means no jumping for the kids on the bunk bed ..
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
yes.....the jumping will have to happen on daddy's bed.
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
these beds don't look safe for kids ages under 10.
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
its ok for not being safe. they must look good. :-)
i think the cantilevers are very tough to construct on the 4x2's used in american homes. what i am thinking is that the side wall may actually be used to support some weight. and yeah, i am thinking about building them myself using stainable hardwood ... right after i finish my library. will post some pics when done.
also .. tlk may have a valid point. for extra jumping on bed pleasures, the ladder may be moved towards the feet and should provide the extra support.
Re: Bunk beds by Philippe Allaeys?
ALSO .. i dont think it would be too hard to make removable side guard rails for the top bed. kid on the bottom can fall a few times. i will be ok with that.

The Lollipop IN Space Saving System is a wall bunk bed system that includes a completely integrated ladder which also functions as a bed support, a safety rail for the top bunk and a storage shelf above the top bunk. This system is also available with an optional fold-out desk mounted to the front of the lower bunk and optional folding headboards.
