Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

In another thread I started, I noticed people started commenting on their experience with the “Bump-it” thingies that you put in your hair and supposedly… tada… instanteanously have voluminous hair without teasing and styling!!!

I thought it was going to be an amazing solution for styling… I was so ready to buy them until I read that some girls have said that its a sham and super difficult to use. It is advertised to be the opposite: super EASY to use.

So girls - to those of you that own these things or have friends that use them…do you recommend it. Why or why not???

I know there are alot of curious girls out there like me about this product. This will help us decide whether we should buy it or not!!

Re: Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

This product was a rip-off and didn't work at all for my hair....complete sham!
I have fine hair, and its not too thick...so you could see the bumpit from underneath...and it was sooo hard to place so that it wouldn't move...and i'm not gonna ruin my hair by spraying an entire bottle of hairspay on it to hold it in place! And then i walked around a bit with it on, and it kept moving! Overall i hate this product and yea its not easy to use...maybe if you get someone to help you place it you may get better results...the only thing i kept from my kit was the backcombing brush...the rest i threw out...cause i was so upset with it! Ok i'm done my rant...sorry about that!

Re: Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

^ no your rant is helpful! so don't apologize!

how is the thingie supposed to stay put in your hair? Like what do the directions say?

Re: Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

there are little combs that they have...and it does come with directions...but i guess my hair to too fine and even after i backed combed it...it still wouldn't stay in place.

Re: Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

Don't know if I didn't do it right or something but that thing didn't work for me.

they actually worked ok for my hair. my hair is also straight and fine. i was able to make them stay in place without hairspray, the little combs kept it in place. the only thing was thhat it really didnt make a nice natural bump. it might be because i didn't backcomb enough. like the bump wasn't rounded enough if you looked at a profile view. the mini bumpits might work better for a small front bump. it cost $10. I haven't actually had the opportunity to really use them yet. i just wore them around the house for a couple hours to try it out.

Re: Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

It didn't work for me either. A total waste of money I say. If you have mega thick hair maybe it should be fine.

hey where do you get these from

Hells-to-the-no! I couldn’t get those things to work no matter what I did. Regardless of whether you use the bumpits or not:
back-combing+rat-tail comb+hairspray=VOLUME! The bump-its are almost inconsequential and serve no purpose except to exacerbate your frustration. Better to simply heed the instructions of the following tutorial:

Even if you screw up your hair, you won’t have paid $9.99 for the privilege.

At this point? Any place that sells water or toilet paper.

Seriously, they're sold everywhere; I'm sure there are truck-stops that have these in stock.

^ oh man… lol :cb:

Re: Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

It worked for me but i had to pin the hair that goes over the bumpit at the back, coz without doing this the bumpit felt unsteady, overall i loved it. :)

Re: Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

I really like the product.
Had no real difficulty putting it in place cuz of the tiny teeth on the bottom side of it.
I did back-comb the hair that was going over and yes, I did use hairspray but not excessive amounts. My hair is not thin but it is not overly thick either.
Once in place it felt secure and the bump was quite natural looking.

Re: Bump-it Thingies: your experience with them!

I remember in the 90s, my older cousins would use a toilet paper roll..lol.

I know a couple of people that have it and use it.
