Bummer

:bummer:

I have been reading this german site, where it states which food/ithems are Halal or Nonhalal just out of interest… and I have come to the conclusion, that there is nothing that we can eat from outside. I have been eating, cakes, pastries, cookies, puddings, jelly for years, some alcohol can even be in your ice cream, your harmless piece of cake, chocolate or even a bubble gum!

I knew that Gelatine was bad, I even used to check the boxes before pursing them of contents of lard or animal oil ..it even became routine, but its even more complicated .. there are these E-numbers that are given, and many of these can contain these haram parts. But they also say, that many of these process change and sometimes its difficult to be quite certain that which E-number is containing which ithem .. So like a simple salt may be sprinkled with lard or something. So there is no garantee, that what you are eating .. next time when I am enjoying my bread from a bakery, who knows what actually I am eating.

I demand Jihad on Pigs.

oho Saadia baji i think sometimes we get too paranoid abt this issue

stay away from obviously haram items like pork and alcohol

dont eat jhatka

stay away from things that obviously contain alcohol and gelatin and animal products

lekin ab banday ko zinda bhee to rehna hae na bhooka to nai na mar sakta…some ppl say k even the milk in the us is haraam, ab banda kia doodh bhee na pyay … ?? to phir jayay kahan

irem, do you guys get imported food ithems from Europe/USA

Saadia baji u know how it is in Pakistan,jo bhee cheez vilayti ho…from AMREEKA or INGLANDDD its like considered the coolest thing :hehe: ppl do eat imported thingz here, like some candy, some milk products, and so on

LoL, Irem, this reminds me of my married cousin .. once we went to her home, we were in pak for vacations, I was young then … she made tea for us and some food and cookies … she brought along with the tea, she constantly said, “these cookies are imported”, i think she repeated it for 10 times or so .. :hehe: I wanted to say, baji .. can I geeet pakistani cookies, i like those better, but then she would have thought me wierd, so i kept quit.

^

:hehe:
Saadia baji its so funny but thats exactly like it is :hehe: but i shudnt be laughing, i myself have caught myself giving preference to the IMPORTED items, just the baahar ka thappa adds some kinda quality to the thing, i dono why but since our bachpan this thing has been drilled into our heads i guess
khayr most desis think like this…no wonder even on 10 rupee items they put fake “made in china” stickers here

Well, its like where you are living, you look for what is not in your reach, we prefere pakistani fodd, sweets, fruits, the same some people in pak go for foreigh brand names. What the funny part was, that my cousin must have kept those let me repeat imported biscuits for days, just to present them to someone .. so she can show how cool they are ... haha But God made her go to a foreign country, now she carves for paki food, just as us.

you’re so right Saadia baji…i’ve been in that position too when i was abroad…
ab im kinda balanced i guess coz ive seen both sides of the coin…i just go for the thing thats better whether its local or imported…

but u know coming to the halal issue…sometimes it seems crazy to me that i can just walk into a shop like KFC, or Mc D’s and eat something chickeny, shuru shuru mein i always used to be abt to check if its halal and then remember irem u r in pakistan :hehe:

^^ Lucky you, irem.

thanks Umer bhai  alhamdulillah it surely is a blessing  going abroad really has made me appreciate the things in Pakistan i used to take for granted before…

on the other hand, i do miss my uni life with friends in California too

banda kisi bhee haal mein poori tarhaan khush aur mutmayin nai huh? :hehe:
