Bukhr

Or Bukh-ur. Or Bu-Khur.

Smoked in a burner. To make home smell good.

Anyone used it?

Re: Bukhr

lol...kind of yes when we were in middle east...

Re: Bukhr

How does it really work, and does it smell good? Does it fill the room with smoke? :bummer:

Re: Bukhr

The smell is really strong. I won't recommand it for homes in US as the smoke might trigger your fire alarm.
So basically you put some bakhur powder in the bakhur pot and light it. The flames will die but the powder will keep burning. In Yemen, yemeni people used to fill their bahur pots and that ended up producing really strong scent/smell. If you don't want really strong scent/smell, use really small quantity. keep it away from your fire alarm and if possible get one of those bakhur pots. They are metal pots that have cover and the cover has tiny holes for the scent to come out...

Re: Bukhr

is it strong incense?

Re: Bukhr

It is not strong at all, or maybe we are used to it. But we love to use it every so often. My husband likes to light it after i cook a desi meal, lol. And lusi, it certainly doesnt produce enough fumes to trigger the fire alarm. Hubs was worried about the same thing when i first burned the incense but it hasnt happened so far. And the place smells great.

Re: Bukhr

Oh btw you dont just put bakhur in the burner directly. You light a coal disc and use that to burn bukhur. These days are are hooked on Uud instead of bakhur, uud is teh kind that is in the form of some sort of tree bark.

Re: Bukhr

Ok thanks.. we haven't used it in US so I just wasn't too sure. I know this one time our fire alarm went off with agar batti...lol.. And yeah if you are used to it then you might not find it too strong but I for the first timers it is somewhat or maybe the arab people use the strongest one...lol

Yeah, you are right about the burning part.

Ba-khoor and Oud all come in variety from very strong to mild. But you can get the ones where u plug them into a socket and pour scented oil into. Those really have a lingering smell I LOVE! I like ocean breeze and honey & vanilla
