What are the ways to utilize 6 months to build skills that will be helpful at work for a fresh graduate (Electrical Engineer)?
Internship
Re: Building Skill Set
Internship if its available, or get into the relevant organisation and move up using your skills - technical as well as inter-personal.
Re: Building Skill Set
I should have explained the scenario a bit better. A fresh electrical engineer will generally be hired as a trainee through a recruitment drive (which is a series of tests and interviews or activities) which can take quite sometime. While waiting for that to happen, what are some of the skills s/he should work on that will be helpful in the job.

volunteering with a company of repute.
Re: Building Skill Set
Universities offer tons of courses on softskills, resume writing, interviewing, time management, communications etc.

Wish that was an option but it isn't.

Thanks for the input. Any idea on the technical skills that can be helpful in the job?

Where do you live your GS location says Islamabad. Also what kind of degree you are pursuing?

Location is correct and I am asking for someone I know. If it was someone with Business degree or IT or CS, I'd know exactly what to tell the person but I have no idea about Electrical Engineering. Degree completed is Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (from SEECS - NUST if that matters). There is no immediate plan for Masters.
Re: Building Skill Set
A couple of management related courses can look good on resume of such a person. Project management certification can be handy too.
Re: Building Skill Set
If none of above works out, 6 months could be utilized brushing up on fundamentals of EE. Reading the text. Visiting Khan Academy website. Become rock solid in fundamentals.
Joining IEEE. Going to IEEE local chapter technical meetings. Or of any other EE orgs.
