Building my new computer!

Re: Building my new computer!

Looks like a well rounded PC. My two pennies worth would be saving a few quid on RAM, something like GeIL will be as good as if not better than Ballastix and cost less. In the UK GeIL along with OCZ Platinum going rather cheap.

For VDU work stay away from the Acer. It appears to be a TN panel (5Ms) probably. Panels with PVA or similar offerings from AU Optronics (IPS from memory) will give much richer, more accurate colours. TN panels are ok for gaming but lack in every other respect where colour range, accuracy and viewing angles are concerned. I would be very tempted to go with the DELL 2407WFP-HC. This revision adds better CCFL = covers 92% of NTSC gamut. The other benefit being support for component so takes input from consoles and other electronics.

The specs for the motherboard are very good. However I have a inherit hate for Asus and Gigabyte laltely. I am someone who will tweak and prod with systems until they do exactly what I want. Asus and Gigabyte both use American Megatrends BIOS. It's GHAY. Really annoying, does weird stuff quite often. Phoenix on the other hand very good but charge more for licensing. As far as I know only Abit using Phoenix. They make very good motherboards too. They have decent P35 offerings.
