Budgeting issues again !

So question is what percentage or how much money would you keep aside for household emergencies every month ? :hmmm:

What kind of emergencies would this money cover? Supposing this is for a family of 5 …

wohi tou .. kaaye ko tang kare-la? now tell me how much money is kept aside in your family for emergencies?

Re: Budgeting issues again !

AC repair, Garage door issues, plumbing, sprinkler maintenance, painting on patch etc etc.

Yes, it is per month, but these issues occur once in a while. Many of them are predictable therefore I know when I need to cash in household budget.

Re: Budgeting issues again !

excellent , thanks so much for sharing the info STA ..

I had totally forgotten about the gardening expenses … :hmmm:

Re: Budgeting issues again !

oh yes, I forgot to mention you that spring is always expensive (more energy bills, water bills) :(

Re: Budgeting issues again !

Depends on the rest of the bills that mont, but mostly an set amountper month goes from the debit account to another. Then whatever is left en of the month goes into that also. Because we live in an apartement where heat, water and maintanace is incl in the rent we don't have much maintanace expenses (also, no yard, do repair cost etc). So that other account is 'emergency' or 'saving for something big' as we try not to buy on credit.

Re: Budgeting issues again !

Emergency money bolay tou Clothes, shoes and makeup fund?

Re: Budgeting issues again !

:omg: Sajalina . wo to maha emergency hoti hai … I have 70% budget kept aside for that particular emergency/ emergencies :@:

Re: Budgeting issues again !

Do you bank the emergency fund or spend it if it's not needed?

Personally, I set aside savings and draw from that for an emergency. And if I know a larger expense is coming up, I save more.

Re: Budgeting issues again !

^ hmmm thats a very valid question actually … currently I put aside savings and try to draw money out of it when needed for an emergency … but then the savings go all haywire after a while … I want the savings to be stable hence why thinking the best way forward is it keep aside a separate emergency fund .. and as it becomes bigger and bigger , we can always shift some of it into the savings bit :hmmm:

Re: Budgeting issues again !

**since we live in Canada, alHamdolillah, our medical emergencies are well taken care of. we have to worry about the medical emergencies of the loved ones in India. most of my siblings have variable coverage thru their employer depending on which type of Govt they work for.

i've personally set aside enough money to cover multiple medical emergencies if God forbid one arises within the immidiate family and or to some extent in the extended family. i think it's necessary for those who live abroad to think about their loved one's medical emergencies in their immediate and/or extended family and set aside some money to cover their treatment. Allah will, inshaa Allah, reward such actions of kindness.**
