Budget Planning

InshAllah the wedding dates will be decided soon

but i was wondering if u girls can help me out again
As all our fam weddings have taken place outside of PK… I was wondering what the small tiny things cost in PK (shopping will be done in RWP mainly… and how we can have a good overview of our budget..

So if u can help me with answering these questions

*Doodh Pilayi glass… I bought a small doli with a glass in it for my brothers wedding…it was such a cute tiny lill thing absolutly adorable…where can i buy unique/different kind of glasses?? and what do they cost?

*Mehndi cones: What is the best brand? During my wedding last year we gifted Singhaar cones…(the emergency cones in gold wrapped) But i see other mehndiis on the market aswell…including arq’s… So what mehndi will give the best color? and what are the costs?

*Churiyan: I can never ever find the embroided “kaanch ki churiyan” that don’t ruin clothes… where can i buy them the best?

*Khussey:…I love khussey…but my friends and cousins from uk don’t have a desi shoe size (size 8 in uk and 10 in usa) so the paki khussey’s never fit…can u guys tell me where i can find these?

*Parandey’s : We want to have the parandey’s for every girl during the mehndil..where can i find the large classy paranday? (not those with the rainbow colors on the back but with the large mirrors etc) )http://style.pk/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/latest-bridal-fashion-of-wearing-paranda-style.pk-002.jpg) like this one…

The last and final question:
how can we keep a track of our budget and buy everythin we need? I mean the wedding will be really hectic…but we want to make sure we buy everything needed and don’t forget or buy things twice…

And what r the things that a girl CANT forget for her wedding in pk?..

Thanks in advance ladies :D…and pray that the wedding inshallah takes place in the period we want and without any disturbance (ameen!)

Re: Budget Planning

One of the very first things I did when hubby and I started planning our wedding is to create a Excel spreadsheet with multiple pages. I used this one master spreadsheet to keep track of EVERYTHING. Guestslist, when people sent in RSVP's, items to buy for the ENTIRE wedding, cost of every single thing (from the cost of my shoes...all the way to how much we booked the hotel for)........every-single-detail was in that Excel spreadsheet. For the cost, I also put in formulas so that "total" was calculated as soon as I entered a new expense. This way, anytime we needed to know how much we had already spent......all we needed to do is open this excel sheet and look.

Re: Budget Planning

Thanks Paheli!

So just a normal excel sheet with the formula for counting the amount?...
I am worried that i forget track of what i buy in teh market for example (forget to put or write it down orso :|)

Re: Budget Planning

I can't help you with prices there but I agree with Paheli. I had an excel spreadsheet that had EVERYTHING. Down to the list of things I needed to buy when I went to Pakistan.
In my expense tab, I had an estimated cost section (for budgeting) and then what I actually spent... to see how over/under budget I was. Had to look at that often to stay on track :P lol

I don't think you'll forget - even if you don't sit down to update it daily, you should do it on a weekly basis. You definitely won't forget! I got marreid almost 5 months ago and bought alot of stuff in karachi exactly a year ago but I can probably remember the price of almost everythin I bought. This is the one time you *will *remember :)

Re: Budget Planning

Yes. Well on Excel, you can have multiple sheets under one document. So I had one labeled, "guest list", another one labeled "RSVP's", one for "Cost". Under the cost, I had 3 columns....one of the name of item, one of amount (how many to buy), and the last for the price. And I entered the addition fomula on the last column so at the very bottom, it would give me a total as soon as I entered the cost of something.

I know for me....as soon as we signed a vendor contract, I updated the sheet. Even with other items, as soon as we got home from shopping trips, I would immediately to go the computer and update my sheet. Its very easy to lose track of how much money is being spend on a wedding. That's why is important to make it a priority and do it AS SOON AS you get home after buying something.

** Just to add, I listed EVERY-SINGLE-THING I would need for the wedding on the Excel sheet. My dress, jewelry, MU/hair, mehndi......to major things like photography, cake, hotel, food, invitations, cost to mail out inviatations, churiyaan.....EVERYTHING that needed to be bought got listed there no matter how small the cost was.

Re: Budget Planning

Thanks ladies!!! Gonn try it tonight:D
Any tips for the small things to buy?....should i buy them at one store? Or look around and bargain?

Re: Budget Planning

OMG that ll too much computation. You can also make "BUDGET HEADS" with allocated sum of money ( lets say you want to spend no more then "Rs:100k" on "mehndi arrangement" ) and list down your expenses under each head. You ll be able to see where are you spending more and which head is within your budget.
I dont suggest counting each n every little thing , Ity'll just stress you out more and as the day get closer you'll see hundreds of unexpected kharchay coming up.
As for the prices I dont know much about /rawalpindi rates :( As for Khussay , I m a big khussaa and kolapuri fan. Here in karachi we get khussa from Rs 300-1200 and more worked more rupees. but still you get the best of the coloured khussa within 500.
For parandas,at my sisters mehndi we got mirror parandas made from our old relatives ( parandas are quite common in our village in sindh) cant say where in pindi u cvan get them.

Re: Budget Planning

hey sweetlady congrts INSHALLAH all will be fine :):) if u get those thaals plz do tel me also i also like these things ..

and for budget i think i also make a list like ALL ABOUT MEHNDI FUNCTION and in that list all those things from arrangemnts to food..
and same for wedding ...
dont forgot to take your beauty box in that u take along cleasner ,cotton balls or wipes and many things

Re: Budget Planning

This is actually a good idea!

Sweetlady: if you have several events to buy stuff for, then it'll be easier for you to create separate sheets under Excel. Title them with things like "Mehndi Cost", "Nikah Cost", "Reception Cost", "Walima Cost" etc. This way, you won't end up with like 500 things under 1 single list (hopefully!). :)

Re: Budget Planning

Aaah!! u girls are great :D !

These idea's helped me a lot!

i have another question..

as the fashion s for long sleeves, i was wondering how that will be done with mehndi?
my sis loves small full mehndi (delicate designs)...would long sleeves go with it? or should she go with smalls?

Re: Budget Planning

Hon, there is no fashion of long sleeves. girl's wear the sleeves according to their preference. some wear short, some sleeveless, some three quarter and some short sleeves.

Mehendi design is not co-related with sleeve length. :)

Re: Budget Planning

Mehndi can be done full regardless of what sleeves she wears

Re: Budget Planning

Ooowh i see all the wedding designers with long sleeves…and i love them…but in pk they have golden churiyan etc…so me n my sis were wondering if it wouldnt be over done qith long sleeves…churiyan and heavy mehndi :bummer:…now i can tell her that schort sleeves will work aswell

Re: Budget Planning

Thanks PinkPearline :D... Am gonn stalk my sis now :D

Re: Budget Planning

She can wear a pair of Karas or Kangans instead of whole set of chooriyan with full sleeves. I dont know for some reason I dont like alot of kaanch wali matching chooriyan :S

Re: Budget Planning

yeah agree with pinkpearline1 she can wear kara in both hands with long sleeves and mehndi its looks really nice i also wore this on last eid

Re: Budget Planning

I wore full sleeves and had mehendi. I wore 6 gold chooriyan on 1 hand and 1 kara on the other. Kept the rings to a minimum too: 1 hand had 1 big ring and my other hand had 2 rings (one was the engagement ring and the other was a ring that my nani gave me)

Re: Budget Planning

^^againnnn u allll are amazin! U helped me a lot!
i have a small template now  and we start writing down things we need and we have bought till now

Re: Budget Planning

Re: Budget Planning

Lockers are available in these banks but they are short in supply . So if you intend to do the same, do so a.s.a.p. Frankly, buraii har jagah aa jati hei agar aani ho. Just keep reciting Ayah tul Kursi and be extra vigilant.
