For a very long time we have been fed that Pakistan Army chews about 60-70 % of our budget, but that does not seem to be the case. I think the actual expenditures are between 18-25 % at the most. Mind you I believe even these expenditures are very high for our country, as most of our budget is consumed by the army plus debt servicing. But we also need to understand that the country is in a war like situation in more than 50 % of the country (disregarding the reasons for the war).
According to this link the total budget of Pakistan Army in 2010-11 budget was 26 % of the total budget.
In any case the budget would be between 20-25 %, add to this the debt servicing (over 38 %) lo and behold the budget is gone. Mind you the debt has more than doubled during the past 4 years of the “awami” government.
Debt Servicing alone eats up 40-44 % of our budget and is the biggest expenditure of our budget followed by military, if we add both together then we get a total of 70 %.
26% Army, More than 50% Debt Servicing.. remaining 20%-25% subject to misappropriation.. Wah re Pakistani teri qismat.
No doubt this Govt is the worst in Pakistan’s history considering the many economic factors including increase in Debts by 100% in just four years compared to last 60 years debt.
What was the debt position, when Musharraf got control of the country and handed over the same to PPP?
If we deduct debt servicing from the total budget, how much % army consume?
This conspiracy of 70~80 % budget
For me spending 25% for the safety of our home land is nothing. Remember they are not here only to fight with enemies, they serve the nation when we have hard times like Flood, Earthquake etc. We only love to criticize them & their budget but never accept their services.
I salute all of the soldiers of Pakistan Army on their services
**For the last two years, Pakistan’s economy is falling continuously into the debt trap, consisting of both domestic and foreign loans. The common people have been the chief losers in terms of financial hardship, joblessness, decrease in personal income and high cost of living. The statistics are truly alarming. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) country report 2009, Pakistanis would be under Rs73, 832 of foreign debt, if the total population of the country reached 180 million by the fiscal year 2015. **In 2005, a single Pakistani owed Rs26,649 while the figure rose to Rs46,648 in 2009 as shown in the table below.
On 20th November 2008, the IMF declared Pakistan to be on its way to economic growth and prosperity. But Pakistan could not maintain its position for a long time and then again fell into the debt trap. Domestic debts have been increased from 55 per cent of GDP to 58 per cent, while foreign debts increased to 30 per cent from 28 per cent of GDP. The total external debt is likely to rise by more than 43 per cent over the next five years, from $50.76 billion early this year to $73 billion in 2015-16. According to a report released by the (IMF), the debt will increase by $6.4 billion to $57.1 billion by the end of the current fiscal year and is estimated to increase by $7 billion to $64 billion by the end of the next fiscal year. IMF declared that during the last 10 years, Pakistan has seen a more than 60 per cent increase in its external debt, which has surged from $33.35 billion in 1999 to nearly $55 billion this year. Similarly in accordance with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data, domestic debt rose to Rs3.967 trillion by end of FY-09 from Rs3.358 trillion by end of FY-08, with an increase of Rs609 billion. Foreign debt increased to $50.76 billion from $39 billion by end of FY-09.
it was around 40 billion when the government was handed over, the year wise details are in the list above. When Musharraf took over it was around 38 billion which I think he had restructured to around 31 billion and when he left the government the debt was 40 billion.
last time I visited ISLO and met with a banker and that banker was not Musharaf fan but telling the facts & figure that in ear of NS and current Govt Pakistan bank ranking, GDP is badly damaged. A blind follower was also there and said its conspiracy but banker said Bhai yah figures World Bank banata hay aur iss kay liye woh aap kay hukmaranoon say naheen poochta hay :cobra: But I"m sure u’ll say the same thing
okay now i’m giving the best solution and hope you will like it and will give this amount to our politicians to spent on bloody civilians:cobra:
First of All PPP government should admit that ZAB made biggest mistake to start the work on nuclear program and say sorry to nation
All scientist should be sent to Jail like Musharaf send Dr. Qadir in Jail that we don’t need any weapon or missel technology
Close the business of Pak Army
Request USA that we want their Atomic Umbrella :halo:
So no Army No Expense and just live happy happy with your nice Politicians
in simple words nah rahay ga baans nah bajay gi bansuri
You mean Musharraf maintained the Debt of Pakistan?
I have never been a fan of Musharraf but that's what the figures state that he got the government when the debt was 38 billion and when he handed it over it was 40 billion, and the last four years we know what happened.
When Mushrafa was in Government US $ rates never crossed 60 Rs. but as soon as he left $ climb down to 90 so you know how quickly it went in 4 years :cobra:
If you want figures then i can provide as well
The debt accumulated during the past few years is reaching dangerous levels for the country now. Something will have to be done on emergency basis but it seems to be the least of the worries for the government.
“The average growth rate in the developing world was 6.5% in 2011. While Bangladesh and India grew by 6.3% and 8.2%, respectively, Pakistan’s GDP growth rate was just 2.4%,” he said, adding that Pakistan outspent India in the field of defence only while cutting spending on education and health. “We’ve practically become a security state.”
**
here is what Musharraf given to Pakistan on the name of ‘Sab se pehle Pakistan’.. and his NRO yafta Government is still on the mission to carry on his bosses agenda :mad2:**
"About the war on terror, he said Pakistan had incurred losses of $80 billion so far. “The per-year loss in Musharraf’s six and a half years was $4.3 billion. It’s been $13 billion a year under the current government.”
The $8.9 Billion dollars are the ones that I guess Musharraf had restructured in 2002, there fore in Musharraf’s government about 10 billion dollars were added to the debt in around 9 years and now we have another 20 billion in four years.
I personally have no problems with army eating 15-20% of the budget if they don't conquer their own nation every 10 years, if they don't sell the national interests after conquering the nation, if they can provide security (their actual job) to the nation. A lot more can be said but then hazaron khwahishayn aisi ke har khwahish pe dam niklay.
BTW, why do we have to lump 'debt-servicing' together with army budget? These are two separate entities so lets keep them separate.
