Budget for living in PK

Well those cash and carry sorta super markets are really doing well , prices of few items such as fresh meat and vegetables are bit higher , but hey you are paying for convenience , aren't you ?

The rest of general grocery items including most of the FMCG items are bit cheaper than open market .

Even i have seen ar local shopkeeper buying stuff from there .

what else ya want eh :)

FMCG? Is it me who doesn't know any abbreviations or do people on gupshup use a lot of them?

It aint , but i would reckon you should get it from reliable sources .... people whom you can trust , you know !

as specially in this segment , loads of scum is going on ! You cant just trust every tom dick and harry property agent for getting a residence .

for me , residence wasn't an issue as i gotta a home down 'ere .

but for some one like you , I suggest you should be looking for a place near to your work or areas you frequently intended to visit :)

Thank you. In terms of a car... how much down payment do you need to make? I am assuming that you can pay on installments after that...

FMCG stands for Fast moving consumer Goods such dairy products, grain mill products, cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery, macaroni, noodles, couscous, other food products, soft drinks, mineral waters, tobacco products, soap and detergents, cleaning preparations, perfumes..

dont know about people of GS but business graduates definitely do :)

Nice, i learnt something new today :D

For auto financing issue , you can check this link

Meezan Bank

it will give a basic understanding of prices and car models ..

Thesedays ,most of the financial institutions are charging an interest rate around 17 to 19 % . way to higher for me liking

You seem to know a lot… so I am going to harrass you a bit more  Is there any particular bank that you would recommend? I was looking into one of the overseas/western banks that opened their branches in pk

Wish i could recommend the financial institution i work for :) hell no !

anyway try MCB or Meezan , have been told Alfalah is good too ... I mean you gotta research on your own and go for the one meeting your criteria .

Unless or until you got paid in foreign currency, like i do , and want to keep it in that , i wouldn't reckon trying those overseas banks such as HSBC and others !

Re: Budget for living in PK

I was going for HSBC! The simple reason is that I can open an account from overseas, with the other branches i have to be there in person. Plus I have a HSBC account already and I like their service... at least in this country. Why are you not recommending these?
(Btw I did initially contact those three banks as I was told they were the best, but I wanted most of my work sorted out before I arrived in PK so I opted for HSBC)

Re: Budget for living in PK

HSBC is good , like you don't need to cancel your plastic :) you can keep using it !

It is just personal preference you know ...

they say , when in rome , do as romans do ! so i went for a local bank :)
