Over the last several years, Bryce Dallas Howard has been the go-to fill-in girl. She took over for Kirsten Dunst in ‘The Village,’ Nicole Kidman in Lars Von Trier’s ‘Manderlay,’ the struggling Lindsay Lohan in 'The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond,’ Claire Danes in ‘Terminator: Salvation’ and most recently Rachelle Lefevre in ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.’ With only 12 (credited) feature films, that’s a pretty big percentage of replacement fare.
But now she’s gearing up to follow in her father Ron Howard’s footsteps and take the driver’s seat – not by swearing off replacement roles and cinematic scraps, but by taking over creative control and making her own film, one she calls “a ‘Breakfast Club’ for my generation.”
