Afayiz - im trying to decide on a desi main dish but we’re not sure if we’re doing this at home or outside park. If we do this outside, haleem may be the better option just because I won’t have to worry about getting naan and it might be easier to eat haleem, but Nihari is always amazing  one of my favs! i could go for some right now lol

Re: Brunch Ideas

hey amaya! im in the US. most of this stuff you can make at home actually. the only thing that woudl be difficult to make off this list (maybe) would be chocolate fruit cups.

Re: Brunch Ideas

This recipe is for Vanilla Scones.
3 cups all purpose flour
2/3 cups sugar
5 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 pound unsalted butter, chilled
1 large egg
3/4 cups heavy cream
2 whole vanilla beans

Preheat oven to 350
Split the vanilla beans and take out the vanilla from inside. stir the vanilla into cream and put aside for 15 minutes.
In another bowl, add flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Cut the butter into pieces, add add to the flour. use a pastry cutter or knife to mix the butter into the flour.. it should look like crumbs.
Mix the vanilla cream you made earlier with egg, then combine with flour mixture. you want to stir gently with a fork until it mixes. this will be your dough.
take the dough and roll it out into a rectangle shape. then you can cut as many squares or rectangles you want (i usually get 24). bake for 18 minutes, take them out before they start turning golden. allow this to cool completely,

To make the icing:
Take 1 vanilla bean, scrape the vanilla from it. Stir this into 1/2 cup whole milk. mix 5 cups powdered sugar with the vanilla milk until you get the consistency/thickness you want. you can dip the scones into the icing or add a little on top  your preference.

Re: Brunch Ideas

Thanks Khatti! So you think no changes are needed in this menu?

Brunch Ideas

I would keep it as! There is enough variety to satisfy all, and everything goes together well..show us pics when it’s all ready!

Re: Brunch Ideas

Its like a casserole…you take eggs and throw in everything you like:

Take a baking dish and spray it with non-stick spray and lay out your cheese on it. 2 cups or so for me.

Saute any combo or all of the following:
mushrooms
onions
broccoli
bell peppers
jalapenos
olives
tomatoes
etc etc etc

Lay them out over the cheese…add another light layer of cheese over this

Next take your eggs and beat them with some spices or like mine: salt, black pepper, some milk and maybe liiiiiight crushed pepper and also any herbs like cilantro, parsley or basil.

Pour this as your next layer - pop into over for 35 - 40 minutes and you’ve got yourself an egg bake!
